Should we stop his racist comments in the basement? The "shine box" towards molin in every reply, "black cracker", etc. Granted, not clever, but he's trying to make racial comments nonetheless.

Nah, basement is the basement. If someone wants to make a complete ass of themselves down there, give them enough rope to hang themselves. However, there are certain exceptions like posting personal information about someone who hasn't posted it first (the whole picture thing with dynasty).

I think the racist stuff is getting a bit out of hand with him. Just because it is the basement doesn't make racist statements towards a member ok.

And you're right, the racist statement is NOT okay. But we aren't saying it is. It's just allowed in that small area. Let the other posters judge him for the idiot he is.

If we cut out racism in the basement, are we going to be consistent and clean out all of the homophobic comments we get on here too? Those are the other words we have blocked out as well, but people still are always making gay jokes and calling one another homos. Those comments are equally as uneducated and inappropriate

I'm with ts on this one. The derogatory commits regarding gay individuals are just as bad as racist remarks.
I really don't think we need to get rid of racist comments in the basement. But if we do, we certainly need to clean up all the homophobic remarks that go on EVERYWHERE else on the board.

I don't see anything abou the basement that makes racism acceptable in there. That is not something this forum EVER needs to be associated with allowing.

All I know is that Thinthick should be confined to the Basement and the High School Boards (so he can talk about Stupidville football, since that is one of the cornerstones of American freedom). He's just too fucking stupid to be allowed to have opinions everywhere else, because he'll say things so mindbogglingly dumb that it winds up disrupting everything so everyone can laugh at him.

Calling a straight guy a homo isn't the same as calling a black guy a n*gger though. I just think ANY form of racism should not be allowed anywhere on this site. I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but neither should be tolerated and we'd be hypocritical to pick and choose. They both serve the same purpose. Just because gay terms have become "accepted" doesn't make it any more right.

It's not that gay terms have become accepted. It's just society hasn't moved to a point yet were most hostility towards gay people is socially unacceptable. My point is, even assuming that a racial epithet is worse than a homophobic slur. We should be more concerned about clearing out homophobic slurs in our REGULAR "decent" forums than worrying about clearing out racist remarks in a forum designated to be a waste land and embody the worst in people.
