In your life how many pets have you owed? (childhood to present)

10 Dogs ( Fancy, Ginger, Tiger, Oreo, Kumba, Genya, Yauntz, Moses, Baxter, Murphy)

3 Cats ( Casper, Cupcake, Butkiss) died, or runaway within a year

2 Rabbits ( Liberty, Butler) Liberty died after a year. Butler a huge floppy eared, 20 pound rabbit lived outside all year round in the yard (no cage) for 8 years. He would greet people in the driveway so goes the name Butler

2 Birds ( ? ? ) kids pets they died within a year.

2 Hamsters ( ? ?) the kids pets both died early in life (being carried around by the neck does that)

1 Crab ( Nutshell lived six years)

1 Fish ( Goldie kids pet live less than a year)

After a few years the rule in the Belly house about pets was simple: Nothing can survive in the house that weights less than 20 pounds so don’t ask. (Exception to the rule Nutshell)

I got tired of digging holes in the Belly Pet Cemetery

I was always under the impression that we never own pets that in reality the pets own us.

I only dig holes for pets I really like. (1 horse and 2 dogs) The rest of them go in the trash or at the back of the pasture until the coyotes eat them.

I have three dogs now. (5 total)

Like three cats. Maybe more. Before I was born my dad would get drunk and pick up every stray cat around.

Two bunnies.

Bunch of fish.

When I was a kid I think we had a couple dogs but didnt get any after they were taken out by the United Puppy Slayers trucks. 3-4 dogs in our neighborhood were hit by UPS trucks back in the day....and a mile down the road a horse was even struck by a UPS truck!!!

Wife had a dog when we married...and since then she got two others that mysteriously died within 6 months of ownership. Didnt bury them...just tossed them in a dumpster at work.

I couldn't even count em all. Grew up on a 400 acre farm where we typically had no less than 30-40 barnyard cats. If I were to guestimate, probably close to 100 cats, 20-30 dogs, numerous horses, pet lambs, rabbits, raccoon and even baby skunks & red foxes. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Oh...and we had a number of aligators. Most of them died within a reasonable amount of time. The last one lasted for a number of years and had to be put down before it got too big and then took it to a taxidermist. Damned things would get out often and we had to catch them!

3 dogs (Buddy, Tupac and our current puppy Sis)
2 cats (Cindy and Skittles)

I came up with the names Buddy, Tupac and Skittles.

I know, I was a ***.

No dogs growing up (Mom hated dogs). Did have a barn full of cats...

Wife and I have had at least one dog in the house for all but the first six months of being married:

1 toy collie/spaniel mix for 17 years
1 Black lab for 16 years
1 Cocker Spaniel for two years (came to us with my nephew) - another United Puppy Slayers victim after the stupid dog busted out of the back yard

Currently dwelling in the Chateau Du Cat Food:

A 12-year-old Black lab (shelter dog)
3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (with a litter on the way - Lady D'Friskies raises CKC's as a hobby)
a Westie/CKC mix puppy (called a Cavestie) adopted from a family that discovered their child was severely allergic to dogs and cats
2 12-year old cats (more shelter varmints)

Lady D'Friskies is a semi-professional dog trainer (she teaches courses for several local animal rescue groups) - otherwise we'd be completely over-run.

Moose, Bowzer, Molly, Earl. All beagles.

And a pet horned toad named Billy from when I lived in New Mexico. Named Billy after my favorite uncle. He was rough to the touch, drank beer when he could find it and ran around naked and pissed everywhere in the house. But he was my favorite uncle so I named the toad after him anyhow. He lived until we got brown carpet for the kitchen.

Not a once, just one at a time. I would say maybe 3 differnet ones over the years. He was a science teacher and we lived out in teh country so he had a pretty neat little setup outside to enclose it with. They usually died within a year or two when thy were young.

1 dalmation mut for 15 years (she was about 2 when she showed up at our door)

1 dachshund (my favorite dog ever) that was hit and killed by a car 2 years ago

1 dachshund that is 4 and is a little shit currently.

I might get another because dachshunds apparently like to have constant companionship (according to our vet). Supposedly it will calm him down.

This - it's not just true of dachshunds, either. Dogs really don't fare well being alone for long periods of time. We noticed this when we got the second dog - Dog #1 was much more relaxed and happy Try to get a female if you can - dogs of the opposite gender tend to get along better.

Sounds like you were a terrible fucking pet owner and that you like to blame the early demise of your pets on your kids. Great parenting, you've shown them the example of passing the blame onto someone else.
