Hello,

I'd seen on old thread about a NASCAR throwback race idea. I wanted to PM some of the posters, but the forum rules don't allow it..hence the thread. I've got a project I'm working on and should be announcing with a press release within the next 6 weeks. The purpose of this thread is to see if there would be any real interest in seeing NASCAR style "old school" stock car racing? Feel free to PM me for more details if interested. I'm particularly interested in the opinions of:

GoChiefs
Sonofanump
killdeer
Non

Obviously all posters are welcome!

Thanks!

Dirt or pavement?

Would a NASCAR throwback race the same night of another series like Late Models?

You mean like actually seeing an impala race against a fusion?

Not sure how I got on that list. I enjoy sprint 360's & 405's on dirt, but not much into late model or stock.

Well we are working on a series that is Nascar-like and we are going back to the tracks that have been left "in the dust" so to speak because they don't have the funds and/or capacity to have Nascar anymore. These are the historic tracks that were the birthplace of the sport. Our cars look like cars...bumpers and all! But we have worked out the safety issues and have made them extremely fast and competitive. We'll be having a press release to showcase the first cars in 6 weeks. Motorsports is still very popular and still a viable medium for advertising, but the costs have gotten out of hand and it's boring in its current state!

Sonofanump,
I picked your name because you had a question about how the safety issues would work with throwback cars in the old thread from 2010. Thanks for responding to this one.

If I want to watch people drive cars fast, I can look out my window at the highway.

Lol! Well said!
There are lots of people that can go fast but when you have to turn and continue to go fast while someone is within 3 inches of your front bumper, back bumper and on each side and a 150 lap race has 300 of these "turns" and the temp outside is 107 and your wearing a 3 ply quilted suit and your cockpit temp is showing 137 and your feet and legs are burning next to the sheet metal and your muscles are starting to ache but you want to win so badly that you push your car and body to the limit mentally and physically...it's different.

Dirt sprint car stuff, huh? Is that what you prefer or are involved with? That's fast and scary!
