e've argued here before that the left lane is or isn't for passing and if people should be allowed to slow traffic by clogging the left lane. Seems the Ohio House has an opinion.

I get mildly annoyed by people who drive in the left lane, but no road rage. I just pass them on the right when I get the opportunity.

I get VERY annoyed by people who drive in the left hand lane, so to me, this would be a very good law ;)

People who cruise along in the left lane while not in the process of passing others are assholes.

Sometimes when it's raining, I'll drive in the left lane while not passing because the visibility is better. Lawmakers need to focus on important stuff, not these kind of inane issues.

This is a useless law. Raise the speed limit to 85 mph and let the process weed itself out.

Yean, in theory this may sound ok but how are they going to enforce it? Ya pretty much only could get pulled over if a cop was following you for a spell and noticing you are not passing anyone.

Great in theory, not going to be practical to enforce most of the time.

I think while they are at it they could also push a law through that when you see the signs to merge left (or right) because of lane closures/construction instead of just waiting until the very last moment and then causing backups. I would think that in the 2-3 miles notice they give you that if ya just merge over then when it gets to one less lane it should be at a standstill to let people in.

Works great in New York. I've had a friend pulled over and cited for it. It helps traffic moving smooth.

I'm sure you nagged him the entire time to follow the rules. Probably glad and thanked the cop for giving your friend a traffic infraction.

Just pass in the right lane. It's perfectly legal, contrary to what most believe.

I hate being held up by a left lane hogger as much as anyone. But honestly, I can see this law becoming a huge problem. It seems very difficult to enforce and would require an inordinate amount of monitoring by police. Life's too short.

I imagine they would enforce it much like they do speeding laws. If they catch you, you get a ticket. If not, then you're good to go.

I cant stand people who sit in the left lane going 68 MPH. When no one is around, its fine, just pass on the right. But it becomes a bit dangerous when there is traffic. Just get in the right lane with everyone else so the line of 22 cars behind you can get on their way.

I cruise in the left lane, but I move out of the way if some tool wants to drive 85 in the left-most lane.

I typically go 77ish.

I cruise in the left lane, going eight over. I'm sorta perpetually passing people because they're slow as fuck and/or cannot drive well, so I don't think I'm being an ass. If anyone gets behind me I quickly GTFOOTW and let them pass without slowing down....and then I follow their lead.

the only flaw i see is inside city limits when the left lane should be for thru traffic to relieve traffic jams.

Was going to post exactly this. On two laned 71 I drive in the left lane because I drive faster than 90% of the traffic. Whenever I see a 10%er come anywhere near me I get over to the right.
