Not a Longhorn fan but the Heisman jinx has just gave Texas the National title.
Mark Ingram will be the next in a long line a Heisman disasters. The majority of Heisman winners have lost their bowl often since the 80's.
Congrats Texas on the National Title

I hope this comes to be.
Colt will need a great game against a very, very good Bama defense.

The last Heisman winner to win a Bowl game/National Championship was Matt Leinart (vs. Oklahoma) back in 2004-05.
Sam Bradford lost vs. Florida (BCS title game)
Tim Tebow lost vs. Michigan
Troy Smith lost vs. Florida (BCS title game)
Reggie Bush lost vs. Texas (BCS title game)
Matt Leinart won vs. Oklahoma (BCS title game)
Jason White lost vs. LSU (BCS title game)

I won't call this, but I won't be as surprised as many. Texas, along with having a potent offense, has a very overlooked defense. The line is solid, the DB's are very good, and the LB's are capable of making plays. I think Texas' defense has as good of a chance of shutting down Alabama's offense as people are stating Bama's D has of shutting down Texas' offense. This could end up similar to last years National Championship game.

They wont even need Ingram. In my eyes Texas didnt even beat Nebraska. Im not even a fan of either team but Alabama has risen up to the top this year.

I don't think the Heisman will have an impact on the game at all. Alabama is more than just Ingram. McElroy has been huge lately, they have another running back who is more than capable of sharing the load, a stud WR, and a more than serviceable tight end, not to mention the best defense in the country. Bama is solid on special teams with the Arenas returning kicks and Kiffin handling the kicking. I don't think it will be a blowout either way, but in the end Alabama is just too solid in all areas and should be able to come out on top.

I said the exact same thing when they announced him as the winner.Puddle Jumper wrote: Not a Longhorn fan but the Heisman jinx has just gave Texas the National title.

Texas has a great shot to beat Alabama for a couple of reasons. First, their defense is very rugged, particularly their run defense. The offense they run is set up to defeat the scheme that Alabama runs in the back seven and their special teams are as good as anyone in the country.

While I don't think it will be a blow out, UT has showed me nothing as far as a running game goes. I don't feel McCoy himself can carry the Longhorns against Alabama.
I think the key is going to be Will Muschamp the Texas D/C. He's got to come up with some new schemes with multiple different looks to keep Alabama guessing.
I'll say a close, low scoring first half. Saban makes 2nd half adjustments that keeps McCoy off the field, and controls the clock primarily running the ball mixed in with play action. I'll say 'Bama 21-13. But, I'm just another moronic armchair qb.

I like 'Bama's chances in this one. I think their schedule has them playing at a higher level than Texas. I just don't think Texas has the running game to make Alabama stay true. Not having a solid running game also takes the play-action pass out of the equation too. I just don't think Texas will get it done.

I don't think it's a curse this year. Both teams are pretty damn good. The key to the game will be the ability of Texas to throw deep. They just simply don't do it. I thought I heard on ESPN awhile ago that McCoy attempts more passes within 5yds than anybody in the country. If that is the case, Nick Saban's defense will have a field day. McCoy will have to throw the ball down field and do it well. If he doesn't... I think this could be a not so close championship.
