Just to create some discussion, does anyone else thing they could be knocking on the door for the state title in a couple of years? Smith hasn't let down thus far, and Garren and Scott are coming along nice. I know it takes more than three, but they also have young guys like Martello and Stover who can be future studs.

Smith is the real deal.
Scott has had a great showing so far.
I know they are very young so they definitely could make a run in the next 2 yrs especially with how weak D3 became this yr with the demise of St Peter Channel and with CVCA and some other powerful programs getting bumped to D2.
Should be fun to follow them!

They could certainly be in the discussion.
NY, Waynedale, Beachwood, and Mechanicsburg - among others - are all pretty young too. Rather good too.
One other thing to consider is Edison just moved up to DII. If they continue their climb, and then the enrollment numbers shift, they could end up in DIII again too.
Once again, Ready good very well be in the hint but so will the others.

They will definitely need more kids to ever compete for a State Title especially with the new system that starts I believe next year.......This weekend they took 8 wrestlers and forfeited 6 weight classes and still took 2nd in Small School Division which was very good!! They were missing 3 guys this weekend (that should be back soon) and was the top Central Ohio Catholic School at the tourney..........I'm the biggest fan of Bishop Ready and I do know first hand that Coach VanGundy,Schlaegel,Hall and Schell get the best out of these kids......They have a couple kids that are 1st or 2nd year wrestlers that have improved so much from the first tourney of the year where they went winless to placing or just missing placement at tournaments now! They have all freshman's soph's and just one jr on the team.....no seniors! I know if I were young again and wrestling this is where I would want to wrestle!! Go Silver Knights!!

Hmm... I'm kinda seeing what you see. Mechanicsburg is really young and will contend in two years. If I had to guess this is how I see it...
2012: Waynedale
2013: Waynedale/Troy Christian...other Top 5 contenders...Archbold, Dayton Christian, Nelsonville York, SMCC
2014: Mechanicsburg/Troy Christian/Dayton Christian/Ready/Beachwood... Ready could be 3rd?....CVCA/EDISON??

VanGundy and his staff have made a great impact in a short time already. Glad to see for him and the kids at Ready. My thanks to him and Ready for the open mats in the summer helps his kids and others get to the next level.6 minutes;1054414 wrote:They will definitely need more kids to ever compete for a State Title especially with the new system that starts I believe next year.......This weekend they took 8 wrestlers and forfeited 6 weight classes and still took 2nd in Small School Division which was very good!! What happen to this team? I mean just a month ago there was state title chatter?
5th at sectionals with 4 DQ? WOW
Looking as if the CVG trend continues..........can you say UNDERACHIEVE ?
Maybe someday they (Ready) can win a sectional title?
