We've lived in the house for 10 months, just trapped a mouse. (Go ahead, insert Richard Gere joke). What is the likelihood that there are more, based on any of your own personal experiences? I noticed droppings in the fall, but did nothing. Just bought traps tonight, and had one within two hours.
Suggestions?

Probably more than the one. We are good for around 4 or 5 in our house when it starts getting cold. Just keep setting traps.

I live in a wooded area and every year we get mice. Their are stray cats the wondering around in the woods, we even have a Garden snake or two in the flower beds but it happens, when the weather get colder. We set the trap catch a few an move on.

Spring traps is what I'm using, and have a spin trap in the bathroom, since the toddler gets in there.

We've had a few mice too. Put some peanut butter as bait and we always get it.

...traps are ok, but a cat will get rid of them for sure.

Unless you store food in the bathroom stick to placing the traps in the kitchen or the food storage area's of you home. Have you check for openings from the outside?ernest_t_bass;1047904 wrote:Spring traps is what I'm using, and have a spin trap in the bathroom, since the toddler gets in there.

Haven't checked outside yet. It's in the bathroom b/c I have found droppings there on more than one occasion.Oldman82;1047932 wrote:Unless you store food in the bathroom stick to placing the traps in the kitchen or the food storage area's of you home. Have you check for openings from the outside?

I'd love a cat, but I don't think the wife would go for it. Cats are great for spiders too.4cards;1047920 wrote:...traps are ok, but a cat will get rid of them for sure.

Acouple of years ago in the fall we had a mouse or two in our house. Mostly, from what we could tell, only in the kitchen area. I set a couple of snap traps, using peanut butter as bait. I caught two of them and the problem ended. I am sure the others in the area got the message and left to find a safer place.

I got rid of the mouse within 5 minutes of it setting the trap. Not sure if the others saw him.THE4RINGZ;1047951 wrote:Acouple of years ago in the fall we had a mouse or two in our house. Is it OK to pick the mouse from the trap with your teeth?

Correction. Belly would have staked out the mouse, then killed it with a tomahawk.THE4RINGZ;1047973 wrote:That is the only way for a real man to do it.

For sure if there is 1 mouse there are more -- take that from experience.
Put peanut butter on your traps and just trap them. They are not a problem per se, more of an irritant.

Aren't their feces a delicacy, if you let them sit next to your food for a few months?
