Right-handers Adam Miller(notes), Anthony Reyes(notes) and Jose Veras have become free agents after the Cleveland Indians decided against offering them contracts for next season.
Wow, surprised to see Adam Miller let go... I know he's not had any luck, but he's still young and obviously still has potential...

Miller just had to have ANOTHER surgery on his finger on his pitching hand a few weeks ago. Reyes and Veras were arbitration eligible.
Veras with an ERA of over 7 can be found a lot cheaper elsewhere, than having to offer him arbitration. Veras is only 29 and shows signs of being the real deal, but inconsistency has plagued him.
Reyes actually is a pretty good pitcher, but can't stay healthy (AKA Adam Miller) He was oft-injured with the Cards...and after 2 years with the Tribe hasn't proved himself any more durable. After his latest surgery last year, he is not expected to be able to pitch until mid-season. You certainly cannot expect the cash strapped Tribe to want to pay him money to rehab. The Tribe likes to take flyers on guys that don't cost much. Reyes no longer fits that profile.
The Tribe did tender Raffy Perez. Raffy"s #'s took a big hit (pun intended) making it easier for the team to offer him arbitration and be able to afford him.

They had little invested, and he's due a substantial raise according to his #'s if arbitration is used. He'll be playing somewhere at a substantial discount.

I wasn't aware that Miller had another surgery...
Too bad, he had a lot of talent.

Glad to see Miller kept in the organization. Hopefully somewhere down the line he will come back healthy. He's been through a lot and has rare talent. Reyes is also a good sign.
