If he sucks and they go 3-13 or 2-14 there's probably not going to be a "next year" for this regime to draft the QB's you mentioned. I firmly believe they are going to be in a "win now" type mindset and go after a QB who they think can a) start immediately and b) beat out McCoy. That won't be with one of those 4-6 round projects.

I just don't see Lerner being patient if they go from 5 to 4 to less than 4 wins in Holmgren's three year tenure. He seems to have a hair trigger and could cave to fan pressure. Is that necessarily right? No, but I could see that happening. Going backwards in wins AGAIN, which is VERY possible, is unacceptable.
they have repeatedly said it's a 5 year plan. He was hired in 2010. This will be his third draft with the browns. I highly doubt he will get fired next year if they go 1-15 or in that range. I also highly doubt that this team does that bad. You listen to way too much cleveland media in my opinion

NFL teams were informed this week of 2 more players of note who have flunked drug tests: ASU LB Vontaze Burfict and Va Tech CB JayRon Hosley

LOL..."think" about it. If YOU got progressive WORSE in your job from year to year in a THREE year stretch would you still have your job? Not likely. Has nothing to do with the Cleveland media. It's common jackass sense.

That sucks for Burfict bc I was going to say to go ahead and take a shot at him in the mid-rounds...now if he is still slower than a lineman and hanging out with Mike Adams too much, it's going to hurt even more. But I still have a feeling there's going to be someone to take him a little earlier than what he should. I'd still think about taking a shot on him with one of the compensatory picks in the 6th or 7th round. If he is still failing drug tests and isn't dedicated enough to get in better shape to make the team then cutt his sorry behind.

Man..I don't know about taking ANY sort of flyer on him now. It's one thing to be dumb in the sense of not being prepared for the Combine but it's another to go full on retard and not be prepared AND fail a drug test. That's just all kinds of stupid.

If your job is dependent on a 53 variables, and a bunch of those variables take a turn for the worse last year outside of your control (injuries, drops, Hillis going insane), then it's conceivable that yes, you would still have your job.

The Sportscenter mock draft going on right now has us taking Richardson at 4. The Bengals are on the clock at 21 right now if anyone is interested. Making picks throughout the show

I understand what you're saying BR, I'm just saying if you take him late you give him options when/if you pick him. Tell him he's out of chances, if he fails another one he's gone, if he can't get himself into playing shape, he's gone. Because at the end of the day, it's up to him if he's going to make a team or not with his decisions. I just don't want to see him go to Baltimore or Pittsburgh and get himself turned around and be a stud LB for one of them.

Completely agree but I'm looking at it from Lerner's (possible) perspective. This IS the guy who left the podium almost pissing himself when he found out Mangini had suddenly became available and hired him in a heartbeat.

I don't disagree with you that they shouldn't blow it up but I could see Lerner do it if this team looks absolutely miserable in 2012.

and if he does that(which I don't think he will, beucase I expect to see improvement this year record wise), then he shouldn't be running the show. Heckert needs to stay. period.

Heckert and Shurmur, for now, need to stay. Holmgren can get the fuck out for all I care. Heckert is the key to this franchise moving forward. I want to see another year of Shurmur before passing judgement.

Agreed. Maybe wrong and they do it but if they turned down the Browns offer to move up to 2 and then they trade back up with Minny they are going to be complete douchebags. Because "net/net/net", they won't be coming out with that great of a "take" from the RGIII trade.

Comparing regular jobs to an NFL General Manager position is incredibly foolish. These guys weren't hired to win the super bowl in 3 seasons..they were hired to carry out their five year plan. They're not going to get canned by a guy whose worried about his English football team's relegation chances. Try and think logically please. Im gonna start saying Dick Jauron is going to get fired, I mean it's proven on here that you don't really need proof to make statements lol just gotta think it and it'll make sense

You don't think Trich would be a great take for them at 3? I think it would be a good pick for them if they deal Jackson, plus he's been getting hurt quite often that past couple seasons...just like trying to help out Colt with a solid RB, the Rams are trying to help out Bradford with a fresh, solid rb. They can get their wr they like with their next pick, whenever that would be?

St Louis Post-dispatch is reporting they're not trying to move up or trade Jackson
It's a smokescreen by Minnesota trying to stir up trade opportunity. lolfail

Why? If the team keeps regressing year after year, with no signs of improvement in the win column, they certainly should be held accountable.

I'm not saying "blow it up" but Lerner might think that. The expectations for this group were high and if continue to look worse on the field than previous regimes they certainly should be looked at with a jaundiced eye.

The NFL isn't about progressing usually. Rarely ever does a franchise go 1-15, then 4-12, then 7-9, then 9-7 then finally 14-2. Its a one year turn around, sometimes 2. H&H will be fine as long as they don't strike out in this draft and find their QB in next years draft.

Well now, Richardson was contacted by the Jets to verify his contact information should the Jets trade up to #3. Knew these bastards were going to be a wildcard in this...not so much the Rams. (buddy pulled me into his office to show me the Twitter post...not sure which guy posted it)

EDIT: MaryKayCabot espn's @RichCimini: richardson said jets at 16 asked for contact # in case they trade up 4 him. (maybe they were 1 of teams called #browns)
