Not really. I agree that they need offense but when the GM (see Phil Savage trading up for Brady Quinn) starts listening to fans, they are soon sitting with Bradshaw & Mushmouth (Shannon Sharpe) doing analysis on Sunday's.

yea it sucks there isn't a mario williams type DE or a clay mathews type LB. it figures when we have a top 5 pick there wouldn't be an absolute stud on DE or LB

That's why I'm completely comfortable trading down, I like T-Rich but none of the guys that will be available at 4 smack of "gotta have" to me. Would rather get another 2nd (or two or a 2nd and a 1st next year) and either use that 2nd or use it to trade back up for a third 1st.

if they went defense with 3 of the 4 first picks, imagine how sweet our defense would be lol. Claiborne, DE/LB 22 then DE/LB 37. who would need an offense? ha

Believe me, they would. Dawson's leg would fall off by season's end if they didn't get SOMETHING for this offense.

If they somehow did take Claiborne with their first pick, why couldnt' they trade up from their second 1st round pick and take a good offensive player? But I think that a lot of the wrs arent that far apart from each other. Floyd, Wright and maybe even Hill would be just as good as Blackmon IMO and I think Ruben Randel will be good. But I think they end up going for Richardson, the best WR/OT and which ever they didnt get with their second pick,in the second round.

hill scares me at 22 because he is so raw. only 40 receptions, id really like wright at 22.

wright, evan moore, little, and norwood, maybe with t rich in the backfield would look pretty good. then get our stud qb in the 13 draft and we are in business

Why trade down? We already have 13 picks. Take the impactful offensive player in Trent and go from there!

I like the fact that no matter what question is thrown at him he won't ever tip his hat as to exactly what direction they will go. In the end Heckert has a plan and he is sticking to it

I agree. 13 picks is enough.

I love it... It's all about posturing and positioning. Determining what you want others to know from what you see and personally feel.

The more I read, the more I think Wright could be had in the second round and maybe even the third. His value is definitely slipping, and to take him at 22 would be an absolute reach at this point.

Serious question for debate
Lets play devils advocate here and say the Browns do not upgrade at QB this year

1 What would it take for the negative McCoy people to change their tune and not pick a QB next year? (wins, stats etc)

2 Flip side , what would it take for the pro McCoy people to change their minds and go for a QB next year? (losses , stats)

I'll answer 2.

For me, he needs to show he's a starting QB. Lead us to victories, don't turn the ball over, and win football games. I expect to be in the playoff hunt this year, that's where my expectations are.

surround him with weapons at the skill positions and protection on the line and let it work itself out on its own. either mccoy isn't that bad or he's the reason why the offense stinks

I'll answer #2 as well. I don't expect us to be in the playoff hunt yet, because that means winning at least 10 games which is unlikely at this point. However, I would simply like to see some solid, consistent improvement in our offense and a record at or close to .500. I would like to see an ability to PASS THE FOOTBALL, and good decision making when we do so. Finally, I would like to see a completion percentage in the 60%'s and at least 20 passing TD's with fewer than 15 TO's (interceptions and fumbles combined). This is when I would say, hmmm, maybe we don't need a QB upgrade.

1. Nothing. He won't win you a championship and that's what it's all about. I don't just want to see "good" or "ok" football. I'd like to think that everyone is on the same page and wants a championship here in Cleveland. I just don't see it in him. Maybe this turns out to be wrong but I'm betting it's not.

EDIT: Although I might be intrigued if he were to come out with a 30 TD, 10 INT season. 20 & 15 is middle of the pack/mediocre to me.

Yeah, I figured you would. And don't take that in a bad way because I know you've been touting offense from day 1. If they were to go primarily defense with the first few picks it will be a VERY VERY dismal season to watch. Some nice defense but the offense? Blech...

I would also vote for drafting offense and looking for improvement from McCoy. If he has protection and someone to throw to, he has to show he's the guy. If he continues to check down, miss receivers, or throw picks you have to look elswhere.
