Absolutely loved Band of Brothers and watched some of it on the marathon yesterday.

Pretty much agreed that is an amazing set.

I dont hear people really talk about The Pacific much. I know it would be compared to BoB and not be nearly as good, but really how could it?

Would it be worth renting, or even buying, the Pacific?

The Pacific was HUGE when it came out. You must live under a rock lol.

I liked it more than Band of Brothers. But then again, I liked the Marines involvement a little more than the European battles of WWII. Id say they are on par with each other.

Pacific focuses on 3 specific marines, so it is a bit easier to follow whos who the first time watching.

Pacific was nominated for 23 Emmys and won 8. BoB was nominated for 19 and won 6.

Nahh I liked the Pacific but overall I don't think it stacks up to Band Of Brothers. Band of Brothers IMO is the best thing ever produced on TV, I can't tell you how many times I've watched it. Everyone plays their roles so well its scary

I think the BoB success and popularity probably helped The Pacific get the attention going in.
I was gone for much of the time The Pacific was originally on so maybe that, and the fact that it isnt really running on TV like BoB is yet, is why I havent heard nearly as much about it.

I guess I will have to check it out. I know BoB was like 100 bones when it first came out on DVD>..a little steep

I might be in the minority but I liked The Pacific better than BoB, but both are incredible.

I just got more into the individual stories more in the Pacific.

As I said in my post, I agree 100%. The fact it was centered around 3 marines made the storylines a lot more in depth.

Why judge which was is better? They are both absolutely fucking amazing.

My grandfather fought in Guadalcanal, and specifically is one of the boats you see exploding in the distance in the first episode of The Pacific. I guess that gives it the edge over BoB for me haha

...on a serious not, his ship was the leading ship for the US fleet, and on the horizon there was a storm and a wall of rain...and from said rain wall the entire Japanese fleet comes out of nowhere. Can you imagine what that sight would be like and how quickly you'd shit your pants? Jesus Christ.

That woulda been about as terrifying as it could get I imagine! Maybe only thing worse is those landing on Dday seeing people get slaughtered ahead of them.

Yeah a girlfriend from my UT days had a grandfather who was on Omaha beach. I cannot even imagine the horror.
