Who would Jones fight next?

Forrest Griffin?
Rich Franklin?
Ryan Bader?
Thiago Silva?
Tito Ortiz?

I've been saying on this site for as long as I can remember that Jonnny Bones Jones is LEGIT and will be the best LH in a couple years. He's a freak and his unorthodox style will give anybody in the LH division trouble.

Hopefully Dana sets him up with somebody more prominent. Bones is my favorite fighter in the UFC, I love watching this guy fight and appreciate his humbleness that he maintains.

Let's face it, this dude is really undefeated.

I think Forrest Griffin or Rich Franklin would make sense (Franklin when his broken arm heals). Bader co-headlines UFC 119 in September and Ortiz is scheduled to fight in October. Jones didn't have any damage, so I would expect him to be back in the Octagon relatively soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give him Forrest Griffin next.

1. Gomi looked good for the first time in the UFC.

2. Bones Jones made a darn good veteran fighter look like a chump. Jones lone "loss" was a DQ where he was beating the snot out of Matt Hammil. He is legit and DW said last night after the fight in an interview his next fight would be against a "top 8" fighter. That is Rua, Machida, Evans, Rampage, Lil Nog, Forrest, Franklin, etc.

3. I can't wait for this Saturday night.

Their kinda cuddling Jones with his fights. Giving him guys he can easily defeat. I think at this point though they have to give him a bigger fight. I would rule out Bader because they dont want to put the two up and comers against each other. I would say they will give him someone like Thiago Silva.

Of the top 8 u listed jmog I think Jones loses to Rua, Machida, Rampage. Has great fights that could go either way with Evans Forrest and Franklin and beats lil nog. I actually would love to see Jones vs Evans I think their styles would make for one hell of a fight.

I had that thought too last night but Jones said he doesn't want to fight Evans because they are teammates.

Jones has the ability to beat ANYBODY in the LH division. He will be the champ within the next 2 years.

I think you will see Jones fight someone in the top 5 or 6 UFC LHWs early in 2011 and it will be billed as a "title shot fight" for both guys. The winner will fight for the title around July/August of 2011 unless there is some dumb TUF coaching stint in there slowing down the time frame).

Who that title contendor match maybe? I'm not sure to be honest, I would think possibly the winner of Rampage/Machida, Franklin, or Forrest.

Jmog I think a stint as a TUF coach may be in his future. Another way to market him and get him exposure setting up a title shot. I really believe Forrest Griffin is going to be next.

The only thing Jones needs to be a superstar in the UFC is exposure, so you might be right about a TUF stint.

They might do similar to what they did with Koscheck and GSP.

Announce whoever is the champ at the time as a coach, and the winner of Bones and whoever he is fighting as the other coach.

Also, in my "timetable" above, I forgot that Shogun is probably out until late spring due to another knee surgery. That makes a Evans/Shogun title match not until May/June.

I remember hearing that Shogun wants to fight in december, and Dana White wasn't to pleased when he said it.

I think Jones is good but he still hasn't beat anyone better then Brandon Vera lets not get ahead of ourselves. I do think he will be a champion but he is only 23. The LH is arguably the best weight class in the sport. I'm not sure hes gonna be able to beat a top 5 guy just yet but he has earned his chance to do so.

Yeah, Shogun says December, his knee/doctors have said Spring. Dana so far is believing the doctors.

I agree with what you are saying and I normally don't like saying a guy is the next big thing too quickly but I really believe Bones is!!

I'm never a guy to buy into a young fighters "hype" too early. I never thought Diego was that great even when he was undefeated. He was good, and entertaining, but not the "next big thing" in my mind. Same with Brandon Vera when he first started out and was undefeated.

There has been 3 fighters that when they were undefeated fighting "lower" tier guys I said "man, that guy is going to be amazing".

One was GSP, one was Machida, and the 3rd was Jones.

I was so sure that GSP was going to destroy Matt Hughes in their first fight even though I was a huge Hughes fan, I was wrong in that fight, but eventually GSP came around and destroyed Hughes twice. I actually cheered when Hughes got the armbar in their first fight because I was a Hughes fan at that time.

I've been wrong before, I never thought Rashad was going to be that great but he has proven me wrong.

Jones has all the tools. He has great wrestling, and freestyle wrestling which, in my opinion, translates to MMA better than folkstyle since it incorporates more clinch/throws than traditional folkstyle. He has good standup, good JJ, the only thing we really haven't seen yet is if he can take a good punch to the chin, mainly because no one has been near as quick/athletic as him and he hasn't been really hit yet.

I agree that he has all the skills to become a Champion I just don't see him stepping into the ring and competing with Machida, Rampage, or Rua at this point. Sometimes a loss like the one GSP suffered to Hughes is what someone needs to take it to the next level. Until you fight a top guy you dont know what it is like. What happens when he comes up against someone who is just as fast or as strong as him. I just think the step he has to take from where he is now to becoming a Champion is huge. I would compare the guys he fighting now (minus Brandon Vera) as triple a type fighters and the next step being the majors. It might take him a fight or two to adjust to that level. Guys like Rampage, Machida, and Rua are smart and full of experience and one slip up or missed spinning back elbow could mean doom. I also need to see him on his back a position i dont remember seeing him in yet in the ufc.

Again agree no argument here I too am ready for him to start getting more highly ranked opponents.
