I'm not saying he fought cans his entire career b/c that's not true at all, but towards the end of his career he didn't fight the best of the best.

His last impressive win was against Mark Coleman, 5 years ago. After that he fought Mark Hunt, Matt Linland, Hong-Man Choi, Tim Sylvia, Andre Arlovski, Brett Rogers, Fabrico Werdum (really isn't as good who make him out to be), Bigfoot Silva, Dan Henderson (big exception), and Jeff Monson. He ducked Overeem in Strikeforce and ducked the UFC for years.

5 of those dudes were ranked in the top ten.

And Monson isn't bad as far as the non-UFC guys go at the class.

But I will give you that the latter part of his career isn't filled with the type of competition the prime of it was. I don't know if that's M-1/Fedor choosing that or if it's just a byproduct of being outside the UFC which had most of the better fighters.

So many people on the Sherdog forums are butthurt over Nog losing.

Many are blaming it on Herb Dean for telling Nog to watch the back of the head instead of blaming it on Nog for losing position to get the guillotine instead of pounding out Mir. Morons.

Lots of people hating on Jones too, calling him cocky and classless for "dropping" Machida after he released the submission. These are probably the same people that cheered Henderson for hitting a clearly out cold Bisbing. Irrational.

It was M-1's doing. They claimed he was the best p4p fighter in the world and sheltered him for the latter part of his career.

He'll still go down as the greatest fighter ever though.

I wish he'd get away from M-1 so we could see him in the UFC. Because even though he isn't the world beater he once was he still puts on entertaining fights.

Meh, Dana hates a lot of people but I think if Fedor/his management agreed to reasonable terms he'd do it. If he thought Fedor could be a draw he'd do it if they agreed to his terms I bet.

Not when it comes to selling tickers, Dana let Tito back in the UFC even when he HATED Tito....because Tito sells tickets.

Fedor would be in the UFC tomorrow if his management/M-1 weren't huge retards.

I'm hoping for a double KO...hate both fighters. If i had to pick i'd rather see Evans win, but it's like choosing between a shit sandwich and a turd burger.

Lyoto Machida's corner advised him to quit after he received the elbow on the ground, apparently he couldn't see at all out of his right eye, glad he chose to continue and fight on. Man those elbows are a weapon!

I'm on the fence about elbows since more times than not they just cut someone open. Even though on the undercard there was an elbow KO i still think elbow strikes on the ground should be illegal.

If he couldn't see out of his right eye it makes sense now how jones connected so solidly with the left before he locked up the choke. I was so excited after the first round, Lyoto looked like he found his range and was real loose. On the flip side i hate how jones acts in the ring, reminds me of Sean Avery waving his stick in front Martin Brodour to distract him.

I think Evans punches harder than Machida, so maybe he can learn something from this fight and connect with a heavy shot of his own. If i were evans, assuming i beat davis, i'd want to train some with Machida.

Not really buying that. The cut was on his forehead and just some blood dripping doesn't cause you to not be able to see at all.

Why the he'll would you want to get rid of elbows from the ground. Getting cut is part of fighting. If you don't wanna get elbowed on the ground don't get taken down. If you get rid of elbows you make ground and pound fighter less lethal. Elbowing someone at the perfect angle to cut someone is an art form. He'll the 12-6 elbow shouldn't be illegal now but it just looks to vicious. As long as it's not to the back of the head it all good.

I think they just cause cuts but don't really do much damage (Not like a good body shot or solid punch to the chin). Just don't think opening a cut with an elbow is an art form. Fights ending because of a cut is bullshit in my mind.

Um...it does if that dripping is in the eye. Blood is slightly acidic which definitely would cause you not to be able to see.

That's why they check cuts in the forehead/eye lid area because if it is pouring into the eye the fighter can't see out of that eye. If you only have 1 working eye you have no depth perception and can't defense yourself.

12-6 should definitely be illegal.

Why? I think he was. Jones did look worried to me. I thought Machida did a helluva job and could have easily won that fight. I think this fight proved something that we all didn't really know - and that is that Jones does have a chin. This was the first real fight that Jones has had - the first time Jones had taken a pretty good punch. Machida caught Jones, and he caught him a couple times.

There is no question that Machida won Rd 1 and Machida looked to have Jones "figured out." I love Jones and I've been saying how unstoppable he is and how I can't think of anyone that can dethrone him. From what we've seen, I think Machida is the best bet at dethroning him. I was very impressed with how Machida attacked Jones, and how he was able to do it with relative ease.
