I'm sure they are. In all honesty I knew little about it. My sister used to be really close to his daughter (2nd cousins and same age)
My mom and his wife are 1st cousins.
Good article and yes, very scary. Gaining 81 pounds in a couple of days????? Couldn't fathom.

I think most people, including myself would have given up on life if all that would have happened. He must be very strong mentally to stay positive and have a sense of humor after all the things that have happened. This story kind of makes you take a step back and look at your own life and realize it isn't all that bad when compared to his and he can still stay positive. Maybe some of us can think about this guy when we are bitching about our lives and how bad we think our day has been.

Kudos to him for persevering.
Just watched the video that accompanied the article. Wow. But, he definitely has a sense of humor to it. Laughter really is the best medicine. My mother would say about a bad situation, "If you don't laugh, you'll cry." It is the truth. Good to hear he's recovering, and walking, and more importantly, living.

Good post. I should remember this during Steelers games and OSU football.

I'd keep that family member distant too.
