Thats the team I figured that would of drafted him when he came out of MSU. The Cavs snagged him like 2 picks before the Suns or something along those lines. IMO if he would of got drafted by the Suns hed of been a bigger name and had a more successful career so far, bc their style at the time fit him to the T

Deal would send CP3 to LA, Gasol to Houston and no idea about who NOLA would get..
Unless Howard is coming to LA too, I don't like that deal.

But what's interesting is yesterday they said no matter where Paul goes, he's opting out of his contract after next season. So he cold be there 1 year then head to ny.

Lakers are not making the deal unless CP3 signs an extension.

Personally, I'd rather have Odom and Gasol. Gasol didn't have a great postseason last year, but he is a nice big and Odom is a great guy off the bench. I'm not convinced that blowing up the team for Howard and Paul makes them all that much better.

[h=3]Report: Lakers To Acquire Chris Paul[/h]Dec 08, 2011 6:22 PM EST
The Lakers are close to acquiring Chris Paul from the Hornets while giving up Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, according to a source.
The Rockets will also be involved, with Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic going to the Hornets.
Gasol will go to Houston.
New Orleans is telling other teams that Paul will be dealt to the Lakers.
The Celtics, Warriors and Clippers were the other primary teams involved in trade talks with the Hornets for Paul.

That's a bad trade. Gasol and Odom aren't better than CP3 but they are a better fit for the Lakers.

Gasol and Odom both have two fully functional knees though. Paul is a good player, but ever since the injury his reputation has been far better than his play.

What are the Rockets looking to get out of this deal? I can't imagine it's going to free up all that much salary space. Would they honestly rather have Pau then Scola, Martin, and Dragic?

Ok so Lakers have CP3, Kobe, Artest, ?????, Bynum (suspended 5 games) and Fisher off the bench.

Talented? Yes but thin and terrible up front.

Looks like the deal won't get done til tomorrow.

Nothing said about Houston getting any picks, not sure what they see in Pau.

The Lakers would be shedding quite a bit of salary in this wouldn't they? Maybe they will make a run at Chandler.

Exactly what I think. Paul is a nice player, but you gotta have bigs. Now, if they can pull a Jedi-mind trick on the Magic and get Howard, they might have something

No more trade, vetoed by the league. Incredible.

If this deal isn't happening. No deal should happen. One of the more fair offers I have heard.

Bad move by the owners, the value of the Hornets will be even lower after Paul leaves and they have nothing.

It was definitely a fair offer. Lakers get CP3 but give up any insurance they had in case/when Bynum goes down, Rockets got talent, and so did the Hornets.

I'm befuddled.

Theyre saying the owners are opposed because N.O. is currently being run by the league.

It actually said Houston would be giving up a 1st round pick as well. They must like Pau a lot more than I do.

Now because of this, Paul will not be traded until they sell.

If they let trade go through now, it would be obvious that the owners were butt hurt about LA making that deal
