Bama had their chance and lost. Oklahoma State had their chance and lost. Stanford had their chance and lost. VTech had their chance and lost.
Houston has never lost and they deserve a chance. They would beat LSU by the score of 63-60, book it.

I think Houston would get pounded by LSU, but crazy things can happen.
I don't think they deserve a shot... look at their schedule, it's complete crap. I think there are more deserving one-loss teams. If you reward a team for playing a crap schedule and going undefeated it would destroy the idea of scheduling ANY challenging OOC match ups. Putting Houston in would send the message that it doesn't matter who you play but that you win.
But at the same time I detest the thought of an LSU/Bama rematch. I could only watch part of the first match-up and I definitely don't want to watch it again.

They don't, but even a blowout would be better than the snoozefest, part II that we're going to get.

Their schedule is about as tough as any other teams schedule minus 1 or 2 paper ranked teams. They are undefeated and there's no doubt in my mind they'd beat LSU. If LSU wins, and Houston is undefeated, it'll be another SEC title that is disputed.

Houston won't be in the NC game nor should they be.

Maybe they could put Houston and Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and Houston will "Utah" Alabama. Of course sec fans would just say Alabama was so disappointed they didn't play in NC game they didn't try.

That schedule is as tough as anyone else's?
6-6, 4-7, 8-4, 3-8, 5-7, 5-7, 6-6, 4-8, 3-9, 2-11, 7-5, 8-4.
If that is a brutal schedule, I'd hate to play the team who had to face these teams:
5-6, 10-2, 10-2, 5-6, 6-6, 7-5, 10-2, 4-7, 6-6, 2-7, 4-8, 11-1
Playing four double digit win teams...surely they deserve a BCS bowl at least right?

They can't control when teams are good. Schedules are made years in advance and no good teams want to risk losing to a good mid major either(I call it the "Boise Dilemma"). Houston deserves a shot, and they would definitely win, there's no doubt about it.The Equalizer;991109 wrote:http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/248/houston-cougars

SEC fans don't understand the concept of "paper rankings".Skyhook79;991120 wrote:Utah's sos in 2008 was ranked 96th Alabama's was ranked 7th guess who blew out who?

Notre Dame only beats terrible teams. Houston has not had a chance to play a great team. Give them a chance, they will not disappoint. The Equalizer;991135 wrote:http://www.ohiochatter.com/forum/showthread.php?30170-Does-team-South-Bend-ever-play-anyone-with-a-winning-record&p=973698&viewfull=1#post973698

Everyone points to Utah but I recall a high powered Hawaii team looking like dogshit when they got a chance at a big game. Houston isn't a lock for success.

I could see Houston beating LSU/Bama if they buried them early. Houston typically has 2-3 minute drives. if their offense is clicking, they're in good shape

Their offense clicks against a bunch of nobodies. The best* team on their schedule just got beat by USC 50-0 for christ sake. The little sisters of the poor joke is pretty applicable. Nobody who thumps their chest at beating tulane and rice and UAB and North Texas should be playing for a national championship.
*for clearity's sake, "best" means the team that actually plays big boy football in a big boy conference.

I love watching Houston play and admire Keenum for bouncing back after his injuries, however, I do not want to see them against LSU. It would not be pretty for the Cougars.

You must have missed the week where Alabama played Georgia Southern. SEC fans were acting like Alabama just played the New England Patriots. It goes both ways. The Equalizer;991204 wrote:Their offense clicks against a bunch of nobodies. The best* team on their schedule just got beat by USC 50-0 for christ sake. It doesn't go both ways when playing such a team is your norm instead of the exception. Those are the kinds of schools Houston plays all the time. Those are the random cupcakes an Alabama plays. Big difference.

Boise St and TCU have faired pretty well in BCS games and regular season games against the "big boy" conferences, so it is not just Utah. The Equalizer;991204 wrote:Their offense clicks against a bunch of nobodies. The thing is a lot of teams have great years and never get the chance because the way the BCS is set up.
