Its a legit topic. Ive actually always hated sleepers act.

I agree the initial point is legit, but then he added in his act, negating that he said anything smart.

I can see reasons for and against moving it.

Actually that point at the end has somehwhat of a legitimacy to it.

Just saw this. I moved it to the basement and sent a polite message to him saying he can repost the topic if he wants but to keep the extreme slant out of it as we are trying to keep the discussions civil.

If this is real, then I give up. No sense in trying to trying to get rid of all the baiting/trolling people do if people think that 1st post was legitimate. Might as well not have any kind of rules imo...

Sleeper, CoA, LikeThat, and CGW and people like that are what inhibit actual discussion and just turn shit into pissing matches all the time.

The amount of unwarranted personal attacks and trolling that does go on really hampers any meaningful discussion.

I know we aren't JJ, and I don't want this place to be. But I thought we put in place some rules (personal attacks and trolling) to try to keep this place somewhat reasonable.

Furthermore, as things stand now, Sleeper, CoA and LikeThat are running the assylum. Their verbal harassment of just about everyone is completely out of control. (Also people like DeyDurkie).

Maybe I am just doing too much and should only mod things such as bot spammers and such. But I'm not a fan of the way things are going at the moment.

I agree to an extent, but didn't want to be the one to rock the boat.

I made a post earlier in the fall asking if we were going to address name calling and trolling that came along with the season (basically referring to those Fly mentioned above), and it went unanswered, so I just let it be at that, assuming the silence was my answer. If no one else cares, I'm not going to waste my time going on some individual crusade.

Sorry guys, I often forget to read every thread in this forum because I'm a terrible admin.

The verbal harassment has been pretty bad and I am all for getting that under control.

I agree it's gotten bad, but there's far worse stuff on there than that thread. I think we need to go back to banning people to the Basement. Also, it sure doesn't help when our own mods are right in the middle of the pissing matches!

Eh, I've gotten into some debates on here. Are we not allowed to post and debate just because we are mods? As long as no rules are being broken, I see nothing wrong with it.

I'd say the mods here are pretty good about not using mod power just because they disagree with someone. Worst thing I ever did was thread ban Ender from all the threads he started :laugh:

We can troll point, but it's up to Justin to basement ban from there. So if he's willing to start banishing people again it's an idea, but otherwise troll points are useless

Never said mods shouldn't be involved in discussions or debate, however, there is a difference between debating and full pages of nonsensical back and forth with a poster who is obviously just trying to get a reaction. It's obvious some posters have problems w/ some of the mods, so why feed the fire, when it can just be let go. It's an attention grab for posters. I agree. No reason to contiue arguing with someone who is obviously going for a reaction. That's why I ignore the majority of the posts from LikeThat, Sleeper or CoA that are directed at me to inflame. I try to respond only if there is substance worth responding to in a reasonable manner.

But ya, I'd be down for clamping down on trolling/name calling if Justin is up for actually giving them basement bans (as previously said, it's otherwise worthless).

That's why I was glad the public/private school thread was moved to the basement. Can't well call thickthin a fucking retard on the high school boards with their damn rules, can I?
