Hmm... those Bruins have managed their way into the PAC12 Championship Game. If they pull the upset over Oregon you will have a team that lost five games (and to non-AQ Houston) in the Rose Bowl.

I thought the only conference that sucked was the Big East?

Just to bring some facts into the discussion.

1. UCLA is only in the conversation because USC is on probation.
2. This will show itself tomorrow as USC will beat UCLA, could be badly.
3. The Pac-12 South sucks. Colorado, Utah and Arizona are brutal.
4. 3 of the 4 best teams are in the Pac-12 North (Stanford, Oregon, Washington (and USC in the South))
5. October 1st, 2011 - Stanford 45, UCLA 19. The Pac-12 Title Game should be similar for Oregon regardless of opponent.
6. Houston is the 2nd or 3rd best team UCLA has played.
7. The Big East DOES suck.

You can't honestly tell me that you believe anyone other than Stanford, Oregon or USC would finish within 2 games of the Big East Champion if those 3 were in the conference with the current 8 teams. In-fact, I'd venture to say any of those 3 teams would go 6-1 or 7-0 in the Big East, rather easily.

The Pac-12 has 3 teams in the top 10. The Big East has 0 teams in the top 25.

And if UCLA shocks the world and beats Stanford/Oregon they will be the worst team ever to make the BCS, and it would be embarrassing for the Pac-12 conference. Unless Louisville makes it from the Big East. Then it would still be embarrassing, but they wouldn't even be the worst BCS team this year.

Bet this isn't going to happen very often (assuming UCLA loses to USC and actually goes into the title game at 6-6):

Win and go to a BCS bowl. Lose and you are ineligible for any bowl.

Yeah, and then Arizona State loses tonight to Cal (currently down 17-7) and at 6-6, THEY turn down the Pac 12 CG and take the "bowl bid" instead.

This would mean that Utah, despite LOSING to Colorado, and THINKING their BCS hopes were over, would play for the Pac 12 title despite finishing 4th place in the division?

This is the BCS...where crazy happens!

No way. I would hope that playing Stanford/Oregon for a conference championship would be more meaningful to players (and more appealing to recruits) than looking like pussies and playing Western Michigan in the Fight Hunger bowl (and probably still losing).

Never forfeit the shot, as small as it is, at a conference title and BCS bowl to ensure playing in a shitty second-rate bowl that nobody cares about.

Um...I didn't really expect them to skip the conference championship game.

So the NCAA has decided to make the bowl system even more of a joke and rule that a 6-7 UCLA team would be bowl eligible.

Playing in a conference title game as a 31 point underdog isn't something I ever expected to see. And neither is a team making a bowl and finishing with 8 losses.

Off the subject, but if Georgia beats LSU in the SEC championship game then they will get the automatic BCS bid to the Sugar Bowl, I thought that only 2 teams from the same conference could go to a BCS Bowl so wouldn't that screw either Alabama or LSU out of the NC game putting a halt to that boring rematch?
Back on the subject, the PAC 10 does not come close to being as bad as the Big East ( I would rate the PAC 10 the 3rd best conference ahead of the B1G) behind only the SEC and Big 12. and Michigan State stands to get F----- again if they lose to Wisconsin in the B1G title game and Michigan gets a BCS bid after MSU beat them by 2 touchdowns and won their division. And Ohio State and Florida in the Gator Bowl, you have got to be kidding, I'm as big of a Buckeye fan as anyone but these 2 teams do not deserve to play in a January Bowl. (I know deserve has got nothing to do with it, it's about the Money but come on) Maybe the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl but that's about it as far as deserve
UCLA will have to petition the NCAA to be allowed to play in a Bowl if they lose the PAC 10 championship game (because they will have a losing record 6-7). They are as everyone has said horrible and should not be given permission to play in a Bowl.

I don't even think most of this will matter. UCLA is in the game but is going to get curbstomped in Eugene. Oregon is in against MSU or Wisky

I am sorry but the PAC12 is not very good. You have three good teams, a lot of mediocrity in the middle and then a bunch of really bad teams at the bottom. Oregon State was 3-9 and lost to Sacremento State. Colorado finished 3-9 and lost to Hawaii. Arizona was 4-8. UCLA, Arizona State finished 6-6 and that was because they got to play Oregon State, Colorado and Arizona. WSU, UTAH, Washington, Cal were 7-5 and again benefitted from playing these lesser teams.

I am not a B1G guy but I would rate it over the PAC12. IU and Minnesota are as bad as they come but there is more depth at the top with Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State (even though they couldn't score on a Kardashian sister), etc.

That being said, the PAC12 is going to get very interesting in the future with Chip Kelly already there, USC rebounding, Rich Rod in Arizona, Leach in Washington State and rumors of Kevin Sumlin and Chris Peterson to Arizona State and UCLA. The over under on those games are going to be ridiculous.

UCLA got a waiver from the NCAA so they'll be eligible for a bowl even if they lose to Oregon. Obviously this situation is rare because under normal circumstances USC would be playing in this game but the fact that UCLA is a game away from a BCS birth is a joke.

This is true unless you are ranked #1 or #2 in the BCS then the team limit does not matter. So SEC would have #1 #2 and their auto-qualifier
