Another game where the back-ups should get as much time as the starters. I'd say my biggest hope for this game is simply that the team gets off to a fast start, as they've been kinda pedestrian for the opening 5-10 minutes of each of their first three games before kicking up the intensity. Considering the team is 3-0 with two blowouts and a win over another Top 10 team, there hasn't been much to complain about, but the consistent slow starting is a bit of a worry.
Anyway, North Florida is 1-3 with a 20-point loss to ranked Alabama and a 36-point loss to Florida. They also lost to Florida's Miami, but did edge national powerhouse Savannah State. They should offer more resistance than Jackson State, but not enough to make a noticeable different in the game's result.
8:30 p.m tipoff. Watch to see if I get lucky enough to move to 2-0 in OSU basketball game threads I start! THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!

Boring for us, good for the team. VMI and Valpo should provide better games, I would think.jordo212000;982356 wrote:Ready for some real games. Games like this are boring

Yeah. Games like this are good for giving the less experienced guys a lot of on-court time. That was the good thing about Jackson State -- everyone but McDonald both played more than 10 minutes AND scored. Then there are three ranked opponents and a few teams like the two you mentioned which are more along the "will win, but will break a sweat doing so" sort of thing.se-alum;982401 wrote:Boring for us, good for the team. I will say that I'd prefer more VMIs and fewer Jackson States, just because I don't know how much a coach can assess how much a guy like Weatherspoon (for example) can help against a Purdue or Wisconsin just because he put up good numbers against Jackson State. But, early in the season, games like that are great just to give them a lot of court-time in games.

Smith's improvement over one year is incredible!!! And boy is he fast!!
Thomas is fine, as long as he keeps rebounding, he's being productive.

If anyone can find video of that free throw, please post it. Shame they didn't show it on replay because that might have been the worst free throw I've ever seen.

Lenzelle is awesome, but man is he a bad free throw shooter. 4/15 on the season.
Quickly becoming one of my favorite players on the team though. He's just solid. I'm not sure I've seen him make an incorrect decision with the ball yet.

There would be zero assessing of Weatherspoon against a top 20 team, he wouldn't play.Heretic;982503 wrote:Yeah. Games like this are good for giving the less experienced guys a lot of on-court time. Weatherspoon won't get much assessing in games other than in blowouts. What better way to assess Weatherspoon than against the #3 rated team in the country? Currently Weatherspoon is playing behind Thompson. The only way Weatherspoon takes Thompson's playing time is by comparing what both players do in practice.

Spoon just isn't the all around player that Thompson is. Sam plays tough D, makes good passes, and has a pretty decent shot.Big Gain;983407 wrote:Weatherspoon won't get much assessing in games other than in blowouts. Gotta love how Sully is shooting from the FT line so far this season. 33-37 not bad for a big man lets just hope he stays strong at the line all year.
