Not a big tomato fan here. Are fried green tomatoes made with unripened tomatoes or "green tomatoes"/tomatilos?

Unripened tomatoes. You can slice them thinly if you want them to be more crispy or thicker for more of the green tomatoe flavor (not as sweet as a ripened tomatoe). One of my sons does not like tomatoes but told me tonight "its not too bad this way".

I don't hate tomatoes or anything, just don't go out of my way to add them to things. Like if a sandwich comes with tomatoes on it I'll just eat them. Nothing to cry about. Perhaps I'll make this sometime.

Not sure why you ever could have had health problems in the past. That is a very balanced diet of grease, cholesterol and lard.Belly35;977234 wrote:Pulled some green tomatoes from my garden few weeks ago fried some up…</SPAN>

I have a cast iron skillet my grandmother gave me 25 years ago that is seasoned to perfection. I fried tomatoes, and zuchini all summer. I hate when winter rolls around.

Had some back when I was a teenager. My brother and I cooked some up. Not bad. Good with a some mourning dove or pigeon from the Amish neighbors barn. The pond provided frog legs. All game downed with our Daisy single pump BB/pellet guns.Enforcer;977315 wrote:Anyone ever had fried Dandilions?

Almost as good as fried green pepper rings.
