H
ell of a staff they have now. 6 million more than they were going to give Madson; I'd say well worth it.

They won't make the playoffs. They have went from winning the WS, losing the WS, losing in the NLCS, and losing in the NLDS in consecutive seasons.

If you have to use the MLB to make your case about the NBA, then you might as well just give up.

And the rich get richer..

Damn, all the Phillies need is to sign Pujols and we can just hand them the World Series for the next 5 years.

Oh ok thanks for letting me know. But this isnt making a case for the NBA, it was more just a comment about how the rich just buy who they want when they want in the MLB and people pay it no mind.

I think a lot of people mind though. I hate the MLB system. It doesnt guarantee the Phillies a title. But it guarantees them a shot and playing meaningful games well into September. It sucks.

People in the big markets dont mind, but thats only about 1/3 of the teams in the MLB.

People pay no mind? You obviously don't post often in MLB threads. The mlb structure is a joke.

I mean the media doesnt seem to take it and run with it like they do with NBA players teaming up. I agree the MLB structure is retarded though

They arent so much teaming up as the NBA though. NBA guys took less right? MLB guys literally take the most money, everytime.

Yeah the NBA guys took "less". But with no state taxes in Fla the heat players actually took pretty much the same. And yeah, if theres a FA here lately the big market teams just throw ungodly amounts of money at said player (like Crawford and Pap)

Good point. The pattern makes sense.

Cliff Lee was offered more from the Yankees than he was from Philly, but went to Philly anyways. So everytime for the most money is not entirely correct. But 98% of the time they go for the most money.

I think he was grossly overpaid. The guy has had a lot of success over his tenure with Boston, but over the last year and a half he has looked very, very human, especially in pressure situaitons.
