Hate when they lose, but glad it happened today. Otherwise, this staff might be back-- and that's all it takes for a powerhouse to be average-- hiring the wrong staff. Beat UM, and that's all I ask.

Kindof random, and this is highly unlikely, but would Nick Saban consider a return to the Big 10? I know, I know ... just thought it would make for some interesting banter. It's not likely he hasn't jumped ship before.

That being said, Urban Meyer is the slam dunk OSU needs here. If we miss out on him, Peterson would be a GREAT hire, regardless of his experience recruiting in the Midwest. I also know that Greg Schiano's stock has dropped lately, but he is a solid coach at Rutgers, even though my gut says he winds up at Penn State.

It seems like it is a done deal with Urban as HC the way the media Ohio talk around it. Maybe the worst kept secret in a long time. Is it true Herbie says he wants to be Urban's QB coach and Spielman wants to be his DC. ?

I just watched the lowlights of the game on The Final Drive on BTN, and as bad as the entire team played, and as bad as the coaching was, and as bad as the blocked XP was, I was reminded how especially bad the defense played. It was PATHETIC.

I thought he should get a shot if they beat michigan and made the title game. Now I'm just hoping we can beat michigan. We'll have to tackle a whole lot better for that. But count me among those who think we're going to need a coaching change now. I wish Fickell well wherever he ends up.

The Boilmakers & Northwestern are the ONLY two " Ivy League " academic type schools in the Big Ten. NEVER underestimate brains versus brawn!

Pretty sure Purdue is in the bottom half of the Big 10 academically. Not that they are a poor school, but definitely not in the same league as Northwestern, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.

I think for a true freshman, with the lack of receiving weapons and pretty bad offensive playcalling, he is doing better than any other option OSU has. Plus, his legs keep plays going. He has rushed for over 100 yards in a couple of games this season. That's pretty impressive for a true frosh QB.

You don't honestly believe he is the worst passer in all of college football, do you? I think D. Robinson isn't much better, maybe not better at all, than Miller. OSU's WRs are terrible and drop a lot of good passes.

I think they beat Nebraska and Purdue with Tressel coaching. I don't think Tressel would allow the team to give up that big lead against Nebraska late in the game. I also don't think Tressel would have allowed OSUs defense to play like such shit yesterday. Seriously, these guys tackled like 6th graders yesterday.

I would like Fickell to come back as an assistant, but he'd really have to be successful somewhere else before I'd want him as HC at OSU.

Yea Michigan was ranked number 23 in the world in academics last year. Why people do not know this is beyond me lol. They were actually rated higher then Standford last year.

I believe they were the #1 rated public university as well, but I could be wrong about that.

Miller missed ALOT of open receivers in this game. Three long balls where the receiver had the DB beat by 2-3 steps at least, and the throw was nowhere near where it should've been, then a host of balls thrown high to open receivers. Not saying OSU should make a QB move, but we can't keep blaming the receivers when they are in fact getting open.

At least 2 of those were with a really strong wind at his back, so id cut him some slack on those. You are correct on the high balls though, he did that against Indiana too.

Oh, I know, I'm just sayin' that people tend to put too much on the WR's not being open, when in fact they have gotten open the last couple games. I was actually impressed w/ T.Y. Williams ability to get open.

IMO, it boils down to Miller not getting the coaching he needs to transition from a high school QB to a college QB. He's relying on his athletic ability and his previous knowledge of the position, and this is evident by his inconsistency, especially in the passing game.

Again, it comes down to coaching, and this staff's just not getting it done.

I know everyone wants to blame the coaching anytime anything goes wrong, but at what point do we put something on the players shoulders? By all accounts, Miller has developed very nicely in practices, but he's not translating that to games, and I think that's because he's not confident in his ability to throw the ball and not turn it over. He only has 3 INT's on the year, which tells me he's not taking chances. Is it the coaching staffs fault that Christian Bryant and CJ Barnett lack opposable thumbs? Bryant has bricks for hands, and is seemingly always out of position. Tyler Moeller, the guy has come back from so much, but he's a liability at this point, since he can't cover and can't tackle. Which coach made Drew Basil kick an XP 3 feet off the ground? At some point, the players have to go out and execute what they've been coached to do. You can't tell me that the same defensive staff we've had for years just suddenly got bad, doesn't happen that way. This team is young, and that has shown throughout the season, but they've also shown flashes of brilliance. I think people put too much on coaching, because it's the easy thing to do this year.

^^^agree to a point, but it appears that our kids are uninspired and unprepared, and that falls on the coaching staff. Tackling is not ony technique, it's an attitude, and our dbacks don't seem to have it (or haven't learned how to harness it)--coaching. The play calling on offense doesn't seem to give Miller the best chance to succeed--how many screens, quick slants, shovel passes, etc. have we we seen this year? These are low risk plays that are designed to keep the decision making out of a young QB's repertoire until he has time to develope and feel comfortable enough to make the reads and make these decisions. It's not entirely on the coaching, but it starts with them.

I'm not going to defend the coaches, but don't forget Miller is a true freshman. If all the drama hadn't gone down he would be watching TP from the sidelines. There aren't too many freshman QBs that look great.

I agree that the offensive playcalling has been horrific, but that's not unlike every year except for Troy's Heisman year. The lack of screens and slants is undeniable, but it's not like they've ever ran them. The defensive coaching is the same as it has been, so I have to believe that's on the players not executing in game situations. I think our DB's(other than OJ), have too much attitude when it comes to tackling. They want to make the big hit/play and find themselves out of position to make the tackle.
