What is up with the Eagles for 2010? Can they repeat or improve on 2009's magical season? Who are the starters and backups going to be? What about the schedule? Who is going to step up and become a stud? Who will surprise?

Any chance that you will be able to find a conference to get into?
Unless the team was senior heavy this year, I would expect them to be a better team next year but not advance as far in the playoffs.

Found it. Thanks. Based on this schedule, GCC needs to schedule a Bridgeport or Shadyside or Newark Catholic. Hopefully Danville can get it together. Rosecrans will be good, and Cincinnati Christian should be better. I am not finding any football data for Gorham Fayette. Not a whole lotta points here so far. I was hoping Youngstown Christian would be back. They will be a playoff qualifier next year. We'll see. The schedule is still not finalized. Thanks Bbridgeport2001 wrote: OHSAA

I agree the schedule does not appear to bring many computer points with it and I also agree they need to find three games that will give it some pop.
Meaning on paper it looks very, very weak.

I was looking around 4 you and i might be wrong but i don't think FAYETTE had a football team.
OHSAA and maxpreps both say they don't have one.
Only thing i can think is maybe next year will be there first year with a team.

I wonder if this game will be an OHSAA game or one of those games that you can not get computer points from?

Did you check and see if they are listed on the OHSAA page?
If not they are not a sanctioned school and there would be no computer points for beating them.
I’m also not sure on if they are playing a full schedule or not and how that affects their status for football. Maybe one of the G.C.C. posters will know this and can share that info.

They have a school number. I don't know if that means they are sanctioned. Also, if you look at their 2010 schedule, it is blank. I wonder if the game is finalized. I'll tell ya, I don't mind playing them one bit. Shadyside and Bridgeport are D6 powerhouses who helped GCC out that first year. I don't know at this point if GCC will get any points from this game, but hey. As Woody Hayes always said, "pay ahead".

You will need some schools to pay back, I would think you will need more points to qualify next year. I figure Danville and Rosecrans will not be easy games for you next year and after that I don't see many points.

Outlook for Next year:
Off the top of my head, here are the players who started at least one game. Feel free to correct my memory(or lack thereof)
QB/S Luke Smurthwaite
WR/S Christian Smurthwaite
RB/CB Connor Lucas(1st team All-Ohio)
CB/WR Jordan Keaton
OG/DL Anthony McKinley
OL/DL Zach Casparro
OL/DL Dalton Chapman
TE/DE Dylan Blythe
WR Brad Saxton
FB/LB Kevin Williams
LB/RB Jaymie Barns
LB/QB Ben Whitaker
The entire secondary and 2/3 DL is back. Evan Wiggall and Cody Lucas(High School Heisman), Dakota Buhrts and Trenton Laws are big losses on defense. Offensive skilled posistions are fine. C Jeremy Stump (SM All Ohio)will be a big loss on offense. Jessie Barns(1st team All-Ohio and Central District offense POY), QB Christopher Bowman, WR Brice Bowman(1st team All Ohio) T Nick Hovis(SM All Ohio) Will be missed. There is top talent able to step in for these guys.
David Pashovich is a speedy kid who is coming off an injury plagued year and could step in at OLB, S, RB or WR.
Tony Roark and Nate Holt will battle for RB/LB spots.
Jordan Edwards, Blair Thompson, Kennon Hunt and Matt Strawser are expected to step up and compete for OL/DL spots.
There is talent coming back. The guys think the team will actually be better in 2010. It all depends on who shows up in the weight room this winter.

I am concerned about Danville. I hope they can put it together. They had a bunch of sophs start for them last year, but it seems they are having problems with the program's leadership. That program could either be dangerous or a mess by week one. I think GCC needs to have them as a strong opponent.gamauter wrote: You will need some schools to pay back, I would think you will need more points to qualify next year. Long term I am concered about Rosecrans too. We only need to look two communities over and look at what scheduling over their head too early did to Harvest Prep. They were a 5-5 team and building until they played an MSL schedule that included D2 and D3 schools when HP competes with 55 boys. They are now stuck going 2-8 3-7 for the foreseeable future.
I would like to see GCC schedule a couple of powerhouses in Region 23 every year, with one being Newark Catholic. You and I both know long term the Region ultimately goes through them. It would help GCC to get used to playing them. Combine that with a game with Shadyside or Bridgeport or Caldwell(who has 128 boys and will be back eventually) or Malvern, with an eventual eye on a Heath or St Paul or Huron after they have established success for 4-5 years and the conditioning program has reached down to the 5th graders.

You are on it. Thanks B. When are we going to be seeing each other on our schedules? Does anyone know about Fayetteville-Perry? It looks like they are in their second year and are in a new conference with other new teams.

Like I said before, I am totally cool with playing a team and helping them out. I hope they play sanctioned games. If they don't, our AD is going to have work some magic with weeks 3-5. If not you guys, maybe Shadyside or another top OVAC or IVC. I say that because I am partial to E/SE Ohio.

I agree , Always have 2 help other teams out when they are starting a new program.(not that many teams like 2 do it ,but they have 2 start somewhere)
I would like 2 see GCC play us again or any of the teams in the OVAC just 2 see how the program has grown over the past 3 or 4 years.
