What is so wrong? On 97.1 I thought I heard this off-season they made good acquisitions and were looking to be good this year.
I don't know enough about hockey to know whether that was a reasonable thought or why they are bad now.
I'm just wondering from our more knowledgeable hockey fans what the hell is wrong with them.

But Mason, especially bad. He can't even stop 20 foot slapshots anymore.

Mason sucks. I felt bad for him (sorta). He was getting beat from the top of the circle along the boards. Once he let in the first 2 softies it was lights out. Outshot them like 40-19 and 1 gd goal. Howson/Arniel/need to go ASAP.

Gotta clean house. Start at the top and no player is safe. Too bad we have no other serviceable goalie, I would send Mason packing as well.

York looks ok but he hasnt played much cant be worse at this point. I've got tickets to some upcoming games I will be brown bagging it.

Another thing, Howson has handed out some of the worst contracts in the NHL. Who does he think he is, Glen Sather? 
Some bad contracts:
Rick Nash (yes he does not deserve that deal) 7.8mil cap hit
Derrick Brassard 3.2mil cap hit for 3 years
James Wisniewski (same as Nash, he should be paid 1 million less) 5.5mil for 6 years
Fedor Tyutin's contract extension, 4.5mil
Marc Methot is not a 3million dman
Some bad contracts:

It would be nice, but there is no cap space. Vancouver will want a top 6 coming back and Brassard isn't going to get it done.

There had been some low rumblings of having Hitchcock coach the team again since he was still under a contract with CBJ, but Hitchcock has taken the Blues coaching gig.

Nash has been the only constant through these bad years. It's time someone starts to take a look from the inside. There have been people in the past that have said negative things about Rick, but nobody in Columbus wanted to hear about it. Maybe it is time they do.

What I don't understand are the 'we didn't play with any intensity' comments game after game. You are paid to play a game...there is no reason to not play hard each and every game. Any player who does this should be cut immediately and replaced with someone who wants to be there.

Worst team ever: 8-67-5 (Caps in their expansion year). Just please avoid that record at this point...although they are on pace to go 11-66-5 (or thereabouts).
