I wouldn't discount the confrontation as untrue, but I think it being the reason Vrabel left is untrue. I imagine in that type of environment, with the personalities of coaches at that high a level, this type of thing happens all the time.

This.
Can you imagine the reaction an assistant coach would get if they went at Saban like that?

Sounds like the kid still wants MSU. But maybe, just maybe Urban can get his claws into him on a visit!

Can we wash our hands of this already? Sure, Ohio State would benefit from having McDowell's commitment; I don't care anymore. He chose Michigan State, and his high school coach says Michigan State is still his school of choice. That's where he ought to go.

One never knows what is exactly going on behind the scenes or what the kid is really thinking. Even though his dad is commenting, there is always another story going on that no one is aware of. Talking about 17/18yr old kids. Changing minds on a daily basis is normal! As I said, we'll see what Urban can do!vball10set;1579082 wrote:This pretty much sums up my feelings on this...

Agreed. I'm pretty much ready to move on from McDowell. 1) I never really thought we had a realistic chance of getting him, and (2) it's pretty obvious the kid wants to go to MSU, so let him go to MSU. Why force someone to do something they really don't want to do (i.e., go to another school)?vball10set;1579082 wrote:This pretty much sums up my feelings on this...

I'll say it again. I don't want this kid. Why? Because he doesn't wanna be at osu. He made his choice. His mom needs to let him make big boy choices. Never felt for a kid so bad before. Kid looks so unhappy.

I say BS on you not wanting this kid. If he changes mind, and signs with OSU..you woudl take him with open arms just as Meyer would. Doesn't wanna go to OSU? Isn't that what recruiting is about? Recruiting and selling the kid on the football progran and OSU?Midstate01;1579189 wrote:I'll say it again. I don't want this kid. Why? Because he doesn't wanna be at osu. He made his choice. This is an opportunity, just like any recruit, to get him back to campus and change his mind. If he is as good as advertised, I'll take him in a heart beat.

I dont want him unless he is 100% sure OSU is the place for him. Discontent can lead to poor performance which is a loss for the kid and the program

I'd prefer to have him to go to MSU and watch the Buckeyes run train on him for 4 years.

LMAO. Half of OSU class was from out of state. If you think they were all 100% OSU, you are kidding yourself. Again, how many of these recruits were visiting and looking at other schools? It is what it is in this day and age. I think only 100% kids were born, bread in Ohio and grew up OSU fans. Other than that, again, there is a reason its called recruiting.LJ;1579222 wrote:I dont want him unless he is 100% sure OSU is the place for him. In this situation, the kid has made his decision, and made it known that HE wants to be at MSU. I don't want anything to do with a kid that doesn't want to be at OSU, but is basically being forced their by his parents. I don't see that situation working out for the kid or the school he is forced to attend.centralbucksfan;1579232 wrote:LMAO. Half of OSU class was from out of state. What the fuck? Who gives a shit where He is from? Every single kid that signed on the dotted line this past week did so because OSU is where they want to be. Not because their parents forced them to go somewhere other than their first choice. Get the fuck outta here with your bullshitcentralbucksfan;1579232 wrote:LMAO. Exactly. By signing the dotted line you want to join the most prestigious academic and athletic institution on the planet. This guy has giving ZERO indication that he wants to win a National Championship and therefore he should just go get blown out in the Rose Bowl next year with MSU.LJ;1579263 wrote:What the fuck? NO BS... I want the kid to do what HE WANTS, and he doesn't want to go to OSU. He committed to MSU for a reason. It's not that hard to understand.centralbucksfan;1579199 wrote:I say BS on you not wanting this kid. If he changes mind, and signs with OSU..you woudl take him with open arms just as Meyer would. 4* Safety(per Rivals) Ben Edwards has committed to OSU. Seems like a smart kid with offers from NW and Stanford. Hopefully he can help get Holland to Columbus.

Its clear McDowell doesn't want to be at Ohio State, save the Scholarship for someone who does.
At this point if he comes here it will be because his mother forced him, and I don't see it ending well for either side.
