It is one of the best, but it is definitely not the premier ACADEMIC institution or the premier athletic institution. If you include both it is probably up there. But I don't believe OSU has won the "Directors' cup" which goes to the best all around athletic department.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Stanford definitely takes the cake and has won the majority of those. And it is also a better academic institution. If anything, Stanford is THE PREMIERE Academic/Athletic Institution.

The Director's cup is a fraudulent award. Stanford does well because it A) plays in a weaker athletic conference and B) has less sports than Ohio State so it can condense scholarship money to recruit better athletes

Ohio State has more sports programs than any school on the planet. They also win, on the field and off, making them the premier academic and athletic institution in the country.

Please, don't put Fred Flintstone on a pedestal--he'd jump on a "committed" kid just as fast as any other coach if he felt he still had a chance. And if a 4* or 5* had second thoughts after "committing" to tsun, looked around, and then felt he made the right decision and wanted to stay, do you honestly believe FF would pull his scholly? HAHAHA

What do you mean by that?

Does tOSU not award all the scholarships available per sport?

Does Stanford bring in better athletes than tOSU?

Your coach bolting example is not really relevant to this conversation.
Not relevant? SO, you want a 18yr old kid to commit to a coach. But its ok for an adult to not commit, and bolt? LOL Ya...ok. Ridiculous. Take off your blinders.

Oh Really? I went to Ohio State's official athletic site. I believe I counted 37 sports (18 men, 19 women).

Stanford has 35 sports (16 men, 19 women).

So that loss of 2 sports is what gives Stanford that huge advantage that they win it every year over OSU. Don't get me wrong, OSU is a great school both athletically and academically. To call it the best though is a farce.

You are all really naive about this. You don't think coaches highly discourage visits after a commitment? What fucking planet do you live on? Just because your coach doesn't make it a publicly known policy doesn't mean they don't do similar things.

And vball, Hoke already said see ya to a 4* recruit who was committed.

Bottom line is I don't care what anyone here thinks of it, and I'm pretty sure Hoke doesn't either. You are free to call him and tell him your thoughts.

I'm pointing out facts, I'm not in a pointless pissing contest. I don't mind discussing things when there are facts to point to.

Nobody on this thread will give a shit when UM misses out on a highly touted recruit because of a fail policy, but you'll be the first one to cry like a nine year old girl with gum in her hair when it happens. Truth.

I don't think everything is automatically a pissing contest, only if people continue to go back and forth with an element of escalation.

Now we're in a pissing contest about whether or not I'm in a pissing contest... way to go!

Did you hear me crying when they "lost" a 4* this year? Didn't think so.

Who's being naive? Nobody said that they don't think it happens at their school. Like I said, I'm sure Urban discourages commited recruits from taking visits, and I don't like it, even if he is the coach at OSU.

Interesting. Stanford is a great school, academically and athletically. They could be the 1b to Ohio State's 1a.

Stanford recruits less black people, so no they do not bring in better athletes. I was merely pointing out the flaw in the Directors cup, and why its a sham of an award.
