Explain what all those lines on the mat mean. Also, I like to model the singlet, headgear, and warm-up uniform for the kids. One of my pet peaves is watching a kid warm up prior to a match with a) just his shorts on and singlet straps up or b) and worse yet, just a singlet!!! Come on, people!
I also like to inform people of the schedule and inform them that wrestling is a winter sport. The concept of bringing a jacket AND WEARING IT AFTER PRACTICE is not only encouraged but genius!!! Wrestling is a physical sport. You are going to get bumps and bruises, knicks and cuts. Roll with it. If it isn't going in a wrong direction, let's move on. Wrestlers do work. Period. At practice and in a match, you will sweat, and also, get someone else's sweat on you. TAKE A FRICKIN SHOWER!!!!!!!!! And then put on the aforementioned coat as you catch your ride.
And last, but certainly not least... If I take the time to print out a letter containing information, do not ask me a question that can be answered by simply reading that very sheet of paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!?!?! Do you have any idea how disrespectful that is to my time and efforts!? New policy: if the question you are about to ask can be answered on that sheet of paper, you have to do as many push ups as there are words between the first word on that sheet until the answer to your question. Don't mess with me. I'm not playing on this issue.
One more thing... Eventually we will get into wrestling and the techniques involved. Until then, do NOT ask me what weight class you shod wrestle. A) YOU DON'T WVEN KNOW THE NEW WEIGHT CLASSES!!! and B) if you can't hit a single leg or proper double leg at 145, what makes you think cutting to 120 will help you be able to!?!?!?! You BOOB!!!! Now go run.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I feel so much better having said all of that.

You know Cruiser I think I'm going to use all that on my first day preperations, I have a lot of freshmen/newbies this year and I know they'll be the ones asking the questions.
As for my first day, mostly going over team rules, setting up the room since it's nowhere near ready, and doing locker assignments. Then Saturday was supposed to be a hard, early morning, conditioning practice but we're scheduled for pictures at 10:30am, so I'll have to wait and see what I decide to do there.

WTF..You say??Kids being disrespectful to your time and efforts????? You? A guy who disrespectfully mocked a couple kids on a thread mocking by senselessly posting on a paradoy thread obsessively for over a year(creepy at Best)....Complaining about his time now being wasted with questions by his wrestlers???LOL... If you were in front of me right now you would be doing push ups and running laps for your ironic comments about "respect" and "Time wasting".
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! I feel so much better having said that.!!

Thank You. And thanks out to all my brothers and sisters who never came home and are currently in harms way. To my Dad who served. To all that stand up for worth while values and tyranny in all its forms of bullying and abuse of powers, may we all live in a world that treats others and their children as we would want our own treated. Let us all enjoy our young wrestlers and support and encourage them in Victory and defeat as this season begins.

Not 100% sure yet. Since it's the K-6 program it will be lots of basic stuff and some "games" to keep them interested.

Hay cruiser and falcon 81 being a vet myself I thank you for your comments. After serving 20 plus the day for the free meal has arrived. Go figure it’s the first day of practice so I’m still trying to work that one out. I wish you guys all the best and I’ll see you during the season.

Classic, Cruiser. Falcon81, I'm sure you realize that his rant was tongue in cheek (mostly). Thanks to all of your for your service on the Veteran's Day. And especially those who didn't make it back. God Bless.

Graham in the past did an up-tempo 3-mile run on the track. Just a short and sweet workout, so the team can go hunting.
