I checked with my tax accountant, and he said I wouldn't be able to write off the iPads as a charitable donation. Blame Justin for not making the OC a non-profit 501c3 organization. Sorry for the inconvenience. Go Bucks! #championship

Is it a donation or a gambling loss? You can deduct gambling losses up to the amount you have won.

I asked him about that and he said because there was no official declaration of a "bet" as there was no "other side" the only way I could write them off is if the OC was a charity. Next time, I'll consult my tax accountant before making any free iPad offers.

Was the offer contingent on the tax benefit? Was that made know a the time of the offer?

Hmmm.

That's what I meant by 16gb. 16Gb, of course if you studied law at a top 5 school, referring to the line in contract law stating "In the event of free iPads being offered on an anonymous internet forum, of any size, quality, or color, herein, be given only if said organization is a charity thus such tax benefit could be written off".

Pretty dumb to maintain multiple attorneys. I have one that I can barely afford, can't imagine paying for two or more.
