Here we go!!!

Minerva is a very well balanced team. They run the spread offense. QB Maurer is very efficient ... high completion percentage ... only two int's all season. Two 1000+ yard running backs. Very explosive and scores a lot of points. One of the hardest hitting teams on defense I have seen in high school in a while.

Can someone fill in the details on Poland ... I know nothing about them.

Lions in a close one. Have these 2 played each other since they were both in the Tri-County League back in the 60's and 70's?

Should be one heck of a game! I see Poland having just enough momentum to pull this one out...seems like they have had the tougher schedule.

Minerva's two backs are ...

Jake Riley ... 6'-3" 200 lbs ... rushed for 1,171 yards on 166 att (7 ypc) & 15 td's ... completed 24 of 48 passes for 308 yds & 2 td's
Zach Wade ... 5'-10" 190 lbs ... rushed for 1,015 yards on 110 att (9.2 ypc) & 17 td's ... 30 recepts for 618 yds & 5 td's

Minerva QB ...

Eli Maurer ... 5'-10" 160 lbs ... 95 comp 134 atts for 1565 yds (16.4 yp/comp) & 14 td's and only 2 int's ...rushed 47 times for 221 yds & 2 td's

All three have exceptional speed when they get loose!!!!!!!

Poland played #18 schedule in Div 3 & Minerva played the #26 schedule ... so not a whole lot of difference there.

Poland played a little tougher schedule but lost to their 3 toughest opponents including an 18 point loss to Marlington which Minerva beat. So I don't think the schedule strength really makes a difference at all.

I think Minerva gets their first playoff win in school history Friday night!!!!!

My point was more that Poland is rolling as of late beating some pretty solid teams...(close loss to a very talented Howland team)

Tough and Physical. Load up the box and stop the run, make them pass.

Good friends with Coaches Brungard & Lamport will take Poland in this one, other than what's above the only thing I know about Minerva is where the school is located.

Agree...looks like it could be the best match-up in R11 this week.

I was impressed with Poland's play against a Healthy Fitch squad in Week 2.

OK...so where's all the dirt on this thread?
Which one of you has been recruiting players from all over the county?
Which coach is intimidating the refs?
Who's offered the biggest bribes?
Who knows how to hold and never get caught?
Where's the best pizza?
Come on guys - own up!

Very good QB in Colin Reardon. He has a scholarship to play QB at Miami University. About 6'1 200 pounds. Will take off and run if it's open. Good timing with his backs and receivers, but no stand out #1s. He doubles as a safety. Jerry Lawman is the only 1,000 yard rusher. Lawman has good burst and acceleration. He goes about 5'8 185 pounds. He doubles as a LB. They run a base I, but can spread the field too.

The defense runs a 4-3 base, with some nickel. Very physical front 7. Very tough against the run. They're suspect against the pass, but the coaches make good adjustments. If teams can move the ball on them, they'll play bend but don't break.

Their Sophomore kicker is very consistent.

They definitely won't beat themselves. It should be a great game.

My cousin's bf plays fullback and mike LB for Poland, my Uncle coaches for Poland, and I have lots of family in Poland... so I have to cheer for Poland this week.

Go Dogs!!

Almost called the upset. Congrats to both teams, interested to see how Minerva moves on. Did Minerva make the playoffs in the past two or three years.

They made playoffs last year.

Minerva scored with 1:28 left to make it 28-27 then went for two and the win.

Congrats to Minerva...way to prove me wrong. Hopefully you can stop the Dover offense next week!
