10 straight losses to FBS teams will do it. They'll swing for the fences and go after Chris Petersen, but I don't know why he would even consider that move.
Maybe Leach? They could run the same spread offense, and just be way more successful at it.

Any chance he's coming home?

No.
He "built" a program of playing terrible non-conference opponents and playing (and normally losing) in craptacular bowls. His whole tenure at AZ has been less than impressive. As Mulva mentioned, AZ has lost 10 straight games to FBS opponents. If that isn't a record for a BCS conference, it has to be close.

Apparently the Arizona AD has connections to Mike Bellotti, so if he has any interest in coming back to coaching he might be an option.

Top name you will hear: Boise State's Chris Petersen. Three words: Huge long shot.
Second name: Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen. Three words: Huge long shot.
Just because Byrne knows Petersen and Mullen doesn't mean either is eager to bolt to an uncertain situation.
Other names: Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and former All-American Ricky Hunley.

Lots of names better than the suggestion by the OP.
RichRod has proven he can't win in a good conference. Why would he get a shot?
Leach makes alot of sense as does Belotti.

Knew this was coming deservedly or not.
Honestly, this year was a combination of a BRUTAL early season schedule combined with 5 new starting offensive linemen (at the beginning of the year all were listed as freshmen or redshirt freshmen).
Foles is going to play in the NFL for sure, but when you don't have time to throw the ball, and can't run the ball at all, and your defense can't provide stops when you need them, it's a recipe for a lot of losses.
The rumors flying around here are Leach.

FAU is perfect for Leach. He can get a nice house in Boca Raton with a dock and a pirate ship for trips in the Keys.
