What players did you draft that have been an absolute bust for ya and ya really did not see it coming?

Was reading an SI article from last August about whom to draft this year.

It talked about stocking up on RB's this year because..........2011 will be the year of the running back! This author stated that 2011 will be a year where teams rely heavily on the running attack and that the passing game will falter in the NFL due to the shortness of TC, no OTA's, etc etc etc.
He said to even take the two complimentary backs on the same team.

Huh. I wonder what he thinks now with the 2011 season being the most proficient year for passing in the NFL!

What I thought was kind of funny was this.....some of the same reasons why this fantasy writer said this would be the year of the RB is the same reasons why in another SI article that some NFL head coaches and scouts predict that it would be the year of the passing attack. (the new practice rules say less hitting in the season for practice and the run blocking really needs alot of physical hitting in practice to get going. They also stated that even with the lack of OTA's, and shortened training camp receivers and QB's can work endlessly on route running in practice and get up to speed alot more quickly than the running game can when you are not allowed to hit as much in practice.)

He also said that you should pick up that RB ffrom KC...Charles....as he would have a monster year. He got hurt. Of course...cannot project that but still.he was wrong on so many levels.

Mario Manningham - What a POS.
Mark Ingram - Didnt think he would be a top RB. But I thought hed stabilize the NO rushing game and get 80% of the carries and 10-15 TDs this year.

Didn't think he was going to set any records but I thought DeAngelo Williams would be ok after signing a new contract.

I thought Rivers would be better than he's been thus far. I thought he'd be a legit MVP contender and thought he'd be a bargin. SMH

+1

Josh Freeman, Ben Roethlisberger, Kellen Winslow, Marcedes Lewis. I'm in way too many leagues, but those are my QBs and TEs in like 5 of 7 leagues. I passed on all of the top QBs because I had a plan to get top RBs and WRs and figured they would have solid years(25 to 30 TDs), and thought Winslow and Lewis would be good Tight Ends as well, but my plans have completely fallen apart. I have overall pretty good wide receivers and running backs, but QB and TE have just killed me this year.

I think Freeman will turn it around. He hasnt been horrible, and is just a gamer/winner. Not gonna set the world on fire, but he will end up with a solid year. I thought he looked good against the Colts.

You're probably right. I didn't expect Rodgers or Brady numbers, but I thought if he could improve from last year and get to 3,800 yards, 28 TDs, and another 300 rushing yards with maybe 4 or 5 rushing TDs he would be a good enough QB to help me win if I had good RBs and WRs, which is what I was banking on. Like I said, most of my teams are top 3-5 in their leagues in receiving and rushing, but passing has killed me this year. Both Ben and Freeman each have I think just 3 passing TDs through 4 games, though Freeman has 2 rushing as well.

I changed my draft strategy this year. I went QB first (Rodgers) then took Steven Jackson. After that, I went a few picks w/o getting another RB. I selected Hakeem Nicks and Dez Bryant with my following picks, then selected LeGarrette Blount and Fred Jackson as my next RB's and also grabbed Stevie Johnson.

My only major bust has been Pittsburgh's defense so far. I knew they were getting old, but they've been total garbage through 4 games. Aside from that, I've had a great year. I have Brees on one team, Rodgers on the other, and Wes Welker at WR on them both.

This was what I was going say. Pittsburgh D was taken as the #1 defense in both my money leagues(not by me). Of course people will be wrong on Charles since he got hurt. Philip Rivers is another guy who hasn't been that great and I figured he'd be putting up numbers along with Brady, Rodgers, Brees etc.

Guys who I liked and haven't been great: Gates, Clark, Rivers, Charles, Roddy White, Pittsburgh D, Manningham, P Manning(I figured he'd be playing).
Guys I didn't like and people were high on and haven't been great: Hillis, Ingram, M Floyd, Marcedes Lewis, Freeman, D Williams/J Stewart, OchoCinco, Green Ellis, Kaeding(never will understand why people would pick a kicker 2 rounds before all the other kickers)
Players that I liked and not many people did and have been good: Fred Jackson, Ryan Mathews, Matt Forte(I'll never understand how I normally seem to get him in like the 3rd or 4th round in drafts), Steve Johnson, Jordy Nelson
Guys I stayed away from and have been great: Britt(before injury obviously, good I stayed away from him now), S Smith, B Wells, M Vick(He's been better then I thought he would be), McFadden(I actually have a 5 dollar week to week bet for who will score more fantasy points between him or Forte. I took Forte over him in the 3rd round and my one friend who picked after me called me an idiot and thanked me for it as he took McFadden. It started a pretty nice debate and ended in a bet lol).

My main money league team is pretty much guys I drafted late or got off waivers and right now Im 3-1.(Kinda helps when my 1st and 2nd picks are done with injuries).

Would have been even better if you got Peyton Manning in the 4th round lol!

A friend of mine drafted P. Manning, Collie, & Dallas Clark insisting he didnt believe the Manning stories and that he would be ready to play and be better than ever.

He is 1-3

Ouch. Don't get why he would take Collie unless he got him late. Collie has his own issues. I could see if he took Wayne and Clark because I think people expected them to still be pretty decent even if Peyton wasn't there.

My draft went EXTREMELY well, injuries have killed me.

I mean look at my team after the draft.....

QB-Romo
RB-Charles
RB-Mendenhall
WR-Fitzgerald
WR-Wallace
WR-Austin
TE-Finley
K-who cares
D-CHI

Bench
QB-Kolb
RB-D. Williams
RB-F. Jones
RB-M. Lynch
WR-K. Britt
WR-AJ Green
WR-Amendola
WR-Crabtree
TE-Celek
K-who cares
D-MIN

(yes, we have to have 2 QBs, 2 Ks, and 2 Ds).

My players that I drafted were doing amazing...

Charles out for season, Britt out for season, Romo broken ribs, Austin out for about 3 weeks with hammy.

The only spot I would say sucked for me was RB2 in Mendenhall/Jones/Williams, but hey, 1 position out of that many starters I could handle (especially with our leagues generous flex policy).

My biggest disappointments have definitely been RBs, with Mendenhall/Jones/Williams being crap and Charles out for the season...

TE isn't really a big deal, but Marcedes Lewis has been a disappointment for me. I figured the Jags lack of a quarterback would use him a lot as a safety net and he'd build on the year he had last season. I got Aaron Hernandez too, so I should be fine once he gets back, but for now I'm treading water.

Jamaal Charles was obviously a seriously wrong pick for entirely different reasons. I'm still 3-1 with 3 straight W's though so no real complaints.

Felix Jones

I really thought he would break out this year. He hasn't been what I thought he'd be. Hopefully after the buy week he comes back healthy and starts putting up better numbers.

Is this a 2 man league? Charles, Fitzgerald, Mendenhall and Wallace all went in the 1st or 2nd round in both of my leagues.

Like others have stated, Mario Manningham has been garbage. I am a huge Giants fan, and let me tell you, this guy has stone hands, and Eli is starting to not look his way much. Luckily for insurance I drafted Victor Cruz late ... what a pickup!

Colston got hurt, so I guess he gets a pass for now. Santonio Holmes has been pretty dismal as well but at least he has a couple TDs.
