Superhero status
One of my grandsons 5 years old is into Superhero, for is birthday I got him a Captain America gear. Yesterday he come over and he has an Army truck and wants to see my Army metals and asking me if I shot guns, road in an Army truck, 50 more questions. We go into the family room where those metals have been on display for years, I lift him up and show him … first words out of his mouth” WOW!” I started to get tears. There are three mental that are still in the boxes and I open one box so he can pick it up and touch. His one little finger rubs over the shiny mental and he turn to me and said, “you are a Superhero papa”. I couldn’t stop the tears gave him a big hug and said…. “thank you papa loves you”. Then another question: Can you fly a jet? No ! short pause ,,,, Ok some Superheroes have cars papa.
Amazing how your kids, grandkids or just any young kid can be impressed by who you are and you never know it or realize it until that special time and moment.
Love your kids and take time for them one day it will all be worth it
Anyone else have a moment like this? Please share it’s a good thing

Thats pretty cool, I was at the pool a few years ago with my son and I saved a little girl from drowning and he still tells people all about it. Not quite up to your level but still amazing how kids can say things that make you melt.

Cool story Belly. I think all military men/women are superheros. The closest thing we have to them.

Damn it. Touching story. When I saw the title I thought for sure comparing you and your partner to Ace and Gary superheros on SNL, but your story is too cool to do that to ya.
I admire those who have gone to foreign soil and fought for our country.

I think what I was trying to get at ,,,,, is not that a military guy, a brave individual who saves a kid life, a police or firefight bravery is only the event. Many of us have stepped up and have done some courageous things big and small. That everlasting impression that without you knowing it created an image of you that last.
What I realized at that moment is that sometime we wait to long to acknowledge those whom we place as our heroes and never tell them. My grandson little wisdom came great understanding of love.
We should stop being the adult for a little while and tell our parents, grandparent or that special someone that they are our superheroes. I have missed that opportunity with my grandpa, grandma and my mom …. I don’t think any of us should let the opportunity slip away again.

I can hopefully get it back on track belly with a little story.
Stepson idolizes me.(its obvious he must not be the sharpest knife in the drawer) He plays with toy guns, got a bunch of camo stuff, asks me how to shoot, throw grenades and all of that stuff.
Last night I turned on Sons of Guns. They were recofiguring an oozie and the scope site from an AK.
KID: What is that?
Me: Its an oozie machine gun that the Israeli's use.
Kid: Oh. Cool. You ever shoot one? What is that one?
ME: Nope. Never shot it. That one is an AK 47. That is the weapon the bad guys like to use.
Kid: I heard of that one. its on my video game.
Kid: When are you going to go to a war? I bet that would fun.
ME: Oh I dont know. Whenever they need me to.
Kid: I will wear my camo's to school every day you are gone.
Kid: Wouldnt it be cool if you went to a war and got shot and killed by that gun?
I didnt know really what to say!

Well, we were moving our office and because the process took longer, the company's IT guy wasn't able to come today, so I was the one who hooked up everyone's computers and phones. So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm a fucking superhero to my co-workers. The end.
