166MHz Packard Bell with 16 MB of RAM, a 2 GB hard drive AND a built in 28.8k modem for just $2000? What a deal!

Just think. If you drop another $50 on a copy of that RAM Doubler 2, you'd have 32 megs of RAM and be able to reprogram our nation's defense computers like in Wargames!

Isn't it amazing how far technology comes?
You can now get 100x the RAM in a cell phone and like 30 times the Storage in a microSD card for a fraction of that price.
And the size of those monitors haha those bitches weighed like 20 pounds.

True. I had a Mac Performa during college and the couple years afterwards. That thing was a bitch to lug around. Now, at work, I have a computer that's like worth 500 million of those that's a fraction of the weight.chicago510;911933 wrote:Isn't it amazing how far technology comes?

I had a sick Packard Bell back in the day. Shit was ungodly expensive though.
I remember it had a 200mhz processor and 8GB hard drive. Also had a tv tuner which is an oddly modern inclusion.

Our first family computer was a DOS system. I remember when we got a new PC with Windows 95 (for almost $2k) and being blown away that you could load Encarta and watch video clips.justincredible;912346 wrote:Same here. Our first computer was running 3.1 with Microsoft BOB on it. LOL. The DOS machine was at my grandma's house. I believe she paid something like $2500 for it in the mid 80s.

Any of you young 'uns know what a bag phone was?
I remember seeing a home VCR for the first time in the summer of 1977 at a girlfriend's house. Her parents paid something like $1100 for it.
They had HBO,too - talk about cutting edge....
