After watching the review of the recent 49er INT, it got me thinking...
WHY DO THEY SHOW THE ANGLES THAT DON'T SHOW THE QUESTIONABLE CALL!!!!!!
AND WHY DO THEY SHOW THE PLAYERS CONVERSING OR OFFICIALS TALKING!!!
I DON'T CARE!!!!!
The people in the replay rooms can see what is the best angle for discussion.
SHOW THAT ONE!!!!! AND SHOW IT CONSTANTLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS UNTIL THE DECISION IS MADE!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
There, I vented.

Because they are taking the feed from the CBS/FOX trailer. Those guys live dont really know if the cameraman caught the play perfectly. If its close, they will roll it once. Then when they see it isnt, they wont roll it. They show the boring stuff like officials talking and such when the trailer guys are trying to find the best angle to show the refs again, and are setting up the replay as such. You dont want to watch a replay in reverse or anything either, so they choose the better option.
That would be the basic answer, though.

They show every angle there is available from their cameras (since this is what the refs are using). The only way to figure out what there is available is to view all of them.

My point is that after seeing each angle, ONCE, I immediately knew if that particular view needed to be shown again. Yet apparently the guys in the trailer can't...please.

Know what ya mean.
There are also times ya wish they could freeze the camera, and then see a diff angle at that exact moment. There used to be a system like that.
In a perfect world each stadium would be set up with a system that used to be used in the super bowl at least once where some company placed cameras ever five feet or so around the inside bowl of the stadium half way up. They showed it off a few times during the like 8 hour pregame show. They could pause the replay at any spot, and then rotate it to any angle on those cameras and it was pretty sweet. I dont think that SB really had any instances that it really needed to be used. I dont think that company is around anymore, and it would be awfully expensive to implement it in every stadium.

You know how much it costs to get a lens that has the first down lines? About a half mil. I love it, and am glad it caught on and is common place. But these companies spend a TON of equipment, and if it is a bust...they go poof. Just to have a wirless camera (now cable running to the truck) is 3 to 4 times more expensive that a camera that just has 1 cable running. But wireless allows you to navigate the sidelines easier without having a person making sure players and suck dont step on the cable.
I cant imagine how much money it would cost to install the amount of cameras you are talking about...all in HD as well.
I do agree with the OPs point though. After an angle is shown once, unless its asked for again it is worthless to keep showing.

yeah...the cost was outrageous and only could be used for a game like the super bowl. It was pretty sweet though to see it in action.
