Just passing this along.I'm just about to give up on any kind of civil discourse on this site. Whoever is moderating the Politics forum has allowed what I would consider gay-bashing to go unpunished. I used to have a little respect for the moderators but it would seem that, unless their opinions are crossed, they don't feel they need to keep posts under control. I've reduced my time on this site quite a bit lately and, if this is going to be the "new normal", it would seem that I will be visiting even less in the future. I understand that there will be differences of opinion on the Politics forum, but allowing some of the anti-gay remarks goes beyond that completely.

I understand people getting pissy when people call stuff gay/**** or whatever. Even if it's in jest, you still come off as an ignorant dumbass for using it, and can still bother people.
I'm not saying that means moderate it, but it is annoying. I've noticed since we filtered some of the gay words, they're just showing up on pictures to circumvent it.

Oh, and just tell Stlouie that the reason whatever he's bitching about is the way it is comes from how everyone on the political forum is retarded and borderline (or more) psychotic, so we figured it be best to just let them say what they will because it at least keeps them from stabbing people or starting riots.

I don't really venture over to the politics forum... but if the calling and joking around about gay/homosexuality goes on in that forum then I would say that is out of line.
In general homophobic slurs are becoming more strongly discouraged... in my opinion it's about on the same level as racial slurs. I've advocated getting rid of them from this site before.

Umm no gay slurs are used. Fwk constantly says "we gays" in threads he starts about gay issues. You cant discuss gay issues without talking about gays

But then if someone else does what Ernest does...would you moderate them? Gotta be fair. Just cause Ernest is a pain in the ass, doesn't mean he can walk the borderline all the time, which he tries to do. Fwk is about the worst advocate a gay person could have for him/herself on a message board with the way he views things. But then, he's from Steuby, so I guess we should be pleasantly surprised that he's capable of typing in complete sentences.
And yes, anything that is supposedly featuring more mature discussion (like a political board) probably should be de-ernest'd, as he's prone to threadshitting with the first 20 things he finds on Google images.

I hate all of the regular politics posters. Except I Wear Pants.
Also lol at mature discussion. Writer and believer typing in nothing but weasel words is the first thing that came to mind.
I do occasionally go over there if I'm feeling confrontational.
