Strap (pull ties) a smoke canister to the under side of the rim spare tire ( booby trap) take a small metal wire from the canister to the frame, connect it to the canister pin ... when the spare tire drop 2 inches the canister goes off and the smoke pours out ...

And when he actually needs to use the spare tire what's going to happen is he's going to forget that he booby trapped it because of someone on the internet. Then he's sitting there on the side of the highway with a flat tire and his car is billowing red or yellow smoke. In Nam we put c-4 in flares taking out a few illumiation clusters and fire them almost straight out .... nice flash and blast... anything under the blast would have very little hearing for days and no night vision.

I feel like a bolt lock (which should have come with the truck depending on the year) would be the most efficient way to protect your spare tire. But I'm sure a flash grenade would also work.
