When I rent a movie I want it to be a new release 90% of the time. The instant streaming business is total crap except for television shows. Netflix just keeps going down the wrong road and unless they can start instant streaming new releases I'll stick with redbox. I dont know how investors can have any faith left in netflix.

This is a great move by Netflix.

How is it a good move. Their instant streaming is horriable and lost like 30% of the movies they play last week and they raised the price so high on the by mail system they lost a ton of customers. To top it off if you want both services you now have to deal with two websites instead of just one. This will cause them to lose more customers. Now if they can improve their streaming section to have new releases it would be worth it but, they can turn a profit paying for all the new releases.

They've lost half their value in two months. It's amazing really.

I meant in that the DVD by mail business isn't one that's going to be around for too long so splitting the services makes sense.

Although it would have been much smarter to retain the Netflix name and URL for both services obviously as Netflix has value as a name whereas Qwikster means nothing.

I know a lot of people aren't happy with the increase in price, but I think what they need to understand is that by separating the two, Netflix will be able to build their library for on-line streaming better (i.e., more newer release movies).

I see this being around $70-80 at years end with the way they're dealing with PR and such.

I'm going to give it a few months, but I'm close to cancelling the 1 at a time blu ray option (was 2 at a time blu ray option until the price hike)...Been happy with Netflix for the 3 years I've had it, but I'm getting a lot of 'very long wait' movies and going several days without things shipping lately...I want new movies, not 10 year old movies, so they need to stock more copies of new releases, or I'll just switch to Redbox exclusively.

"It's a really dumb name," said Scott Devine of Burbank, Calif., who dropped the DVD service after the price increase was announced two months ago. "You would think they would choose something that at least had `flick" in the name."

How is going to a Redbox easier than going to your mailbox or looking at your computer screen?

I dropped the DVD portion of Netflix once they made the changes. I'm very close to canceling streaming as well, and would if it wasn't for the TV shows.

Redbox gives me the same options and I usually go to Blockbuster if it's a new release that I wanted to see and wasn't available anyway through NetFlix/RedBox

RedBox offering games was a huge surprise as well.
