Salem heads west down 173 this week to a random opening in the middle of a cornfield in Marlboro Township (seriously, their school is in the middle of nowhere, lol)

Salem lost their opener to LaBrae, but have rattled off 3 straight wins against United, Niles, and Carrollton
Marlington is obviously loaded, but Louisville tripped them up last week, putting up 21 unanswered after Marlington had taken a big lead.

I have a bad feeling about this as a Salem fan. Just hoping the Dukes have a hangover from last week, but doubting it .

Any thoughts? Anyone feeling more optimistic than me?

I'm reminded of the late Herb Brooks when thinking about this weeks game for the Quakers. (please substitute football references for the hockey ones)

Great moments are born from great opportunity.
And that's what you have here tonight, boys.
That's what you've earned here, tonight.
One game.
If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.
But not this game. Not tonight.
Tonight, we skate with 'em.
Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can!
Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players -- every one of ya.
And you were meant to be here tonight.
This is your time.
Their time -- is done. It's over.
I'm sick and tired of hearin' about what a great hockey team the Soviets have.
Screw 'em!
This is your time!!
Now go out there and take i
t!

We have a chance, but there can be no missed tackling and unfortunately when you are facing 2 DI running backs, the chances of missing tackles and/or getting burned by their speed are rather high. The good thing is that our run defense has been pretty decent.

You never know in high school sports what might happen, weather conditions could be such that maybe it causes a few fumbles to come our way, who knows .... that is why they put the ball on the tee on Friday night.

Go Quakers !!

I agree. Weather could play a part. I'll go for the underdog. Salem in a squeaker.

Id love to see Salem pull off the upset! But its unlikely i believe they will be able to score but containing to D1 players all night is not an easy thing to do

It is supposed to rain Friday. On the other hand, it is Marlington's homecoming.

I'll go with the Dukes by 4 TD's or more.... but I've been wrong before. :)
Best of luck to both teams, & stay injury free.

can never underestimate a Kopachy coached team but it does look like an uphill battle. Calpreps says 35-7 Marlington.
Somehow I think the Quakers are going to be able to keep it closer.

35-7 Dukes final. Salem had chances; they had a few drives deep into Duke territory, but mistakes or the Duke defense turned them away. Salem had to play an almost perfect game to have a chance in this one; Marlington has too many weapons and will take advantage of mistakes.

All news stations reported 42-7, not 35-7, but at that point who's counting?

For some reason Friday Night Ohio was reporting final scores on a few games that weren't yet final.
The Marlington & Dover games were two that were erroniously reported.
