Williams being healthy is a huge deal for this game. Him and Simon on the D-Line spell trouble for Jacory

Is Williams completely healthy? He was out with a bone bruise last week. Those don't usually heal very fast. Same thing with hamstrings, which is why I don't expect to see Berry for a few more weeks -- unless they want him to reinjure himself.

Why play Berry, then sit him for a couple more weeks?

I think they are going to see how Berry does with the kickoff returns then ease him into the game if he can get into a rhythm.

I think that's a BS strategy. Put him in the game, if he's gonna get hurt, he's gonna get hurt. Next thing you know, we're in week 7 and still taking it easy with him so he doesn't get re-injured.

That is actually what Fickle said in his presser today
The more Jaamal Berry does during kick-offs and returns will dictate the chances he gets at running back. This has been a thread in all of Fickell's conferences... whoever is making the most of their chances (in all facets of the game) will get their chances toting the rock.

I didn't see it, but someone told me he limped after trying to return a kickoff against Toledo (I think). Then we really didn't see him again. They should sit his butt until he's 100 percent.

Fickell has MUCH more to lose than any player or coach in the country. He's coaching for his head coaching life at his dream job. If Ohio State had lost to Toledo Fickle was a lame duck coach. Fickell undoubtedly thinks he has a much better chance of surviving with Bauserman than Miller. Miller won't play unless Ohio State is comfortably ahead or in danger of losing and then Miller becomes a last gasp for Fickell's coaching life.

People keep throwing out these scenarios where Miller plays, but we saw those scenarios against Toledo. OSU's offense was bad, Bauserman was mediocre and they were in danger of losing.

I think we will see Miller early for a series and if he does good he will get another. I think because Bauserman came out and scored easily on the first drive was the reason he stayed in the whole game. The flow of the game was never there for Miller to come in untill after Bauserman had a couple of sucky series and by then OSU was trying to get the lead back. If stoneburner hadn't dropped that 4th down pass or if Smith didn't fumble the ball I don't think we would be talking as much about this.

I don't think the Toledo game has any bearing on whether Miller will play this weekend. Miami is a different animal and a more athletic defense. I think the game just got away from Fickell and he was too focused on finding the perfect spot to fit him in rather than just letting him play. As I've already said, there is no way Fickell can feel completely confident in winning the game at Coral Gables with Bauserman taking 100% of the snaps.

Rod Smith could take every snap and OSU should have the advantage in QB

If Rod Smith receives a single carry this week I will be PISSED. He has not one, but TWO costly fumbles. There are plenty of ponies in the stable. He's lost his chance for this year IMO (or at least for the next few weeks).

who knows...maybe history will repeat itself ;)

Four years earlier, ironically against Illinois, I covered one of George's first games as a Buckeye. Afterward, I never thought we would ever hear of George again following OSU's crushing 18-16 loss to the Illini at Ohio Stadium. George, a freshman, fumbled twice inside the opponent's 5-yard line. One fumble was returned 96 yards for a touchdown. The other occurred at the 1 with the Buckeyes' leading by two in the fourth quarter. Illinois then drove 99 yards for the winning score.

George was banished to the bench for the next two seasons. Finally, as a junior, he was given a shot to start for Coach John Cooper, and responded with 1,442 yards and 12 touchdowns. Then, of course, he earned his spot in the College Football Hall of Fame this week with a season for the ages, rushing for 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns and winning the '95 Heisman.

I was at that game (as a toddler haha!). I believe Beanie had fumble problems his frosh year as well. Hopefully, it is just a shitty trend with all-time great OSU runningbacks.

I don't feel confident in this game at all, only because I have no confidence in Bauserman.

If the Miami O-Line can give Harris time to through...I don't see how Ohio State wins.

Harris is horrible and our defensive backs are probably the strong point in the defense this year.

Not having confidence in the running game is a bigger concern to me. If the running game was effective to explosive, Bauserman would be adequate. Play action with a strong running game seem to be his strength. The other thing is I wouldn't be concerned about him turning the ball over. At this point honestly, Miller wouldn't give me any more confidence than Bauserman, because a true freshman QB on the road needs the same exact thing.... a strong running game.
