I'm a little confused as to why Rice did this at Texas since they aren't an $EC team. Still awesome none the less.

Because Texas A&M is trying to go to the SEC while the Big 12 is a sinking ship. It's a slap in their face that they're (Texas) causing this because of the Longhorn Network.

Gotcha. I figured it had something to do with A&M moving to the SEC, but didn't quite get the whole concept.
