So let me get this straight... Netflix hikes up their Watch Instantly prices AND now they will be losing 1,000+ of their best titles?! What is going on here, people?! Netflix better watch what they're doing, or they're going to start experiencing a mass exodus from them subscribers.
Watch Instantly already has a porious selection of movies. If it wasn't for their wide selection of TV shows, a subscription really wouldn't be worth it. My patience [with Netflix] is quickly dissipating.

I cancelled my subscription to it before this months billing cycle started. No way was going to pay 15 bucks for streaming and 1 DvD out at a time. Now with them losing Starz I'm really glad I did it.

I just canceled my streaming only last month. Just decided it wasn't worth it. May pick it back up during the winter, but who knows

The idea of Netflix [Watch Instantly] is great. The reality is, it'll be quite some time [if ever] that it actually takes off. Too many film industries want to large of the pie. Netflix can't afford to sign these hundred-million-dollar contracts with these giant production companies and continue to offer low prices to customers.

Yeah, kind of feel bad for Netflix, but not to the point that I'll necessarily continue to spend the money. They got way ahead of the curve with what they were doing, but once everyone caught onto it and contracts started expiring, they really didn't/don't have any leverage. They're raising prices to try and stay in business, but they keep losing what they can offer - they are pretty much done. That's business, I guess.Scarlet_Buckeye;880151 wrote:The idea of Netflix [Watch Instantly] is great. The reality is, it'll be quite some time [if ever] that it actually takes off. For those asking, $7.99/month the cost for streaming.

Yep. Had tried it for about a month and then decided they didn't stream hardly anything I wanted to watch.ZWICK 4 PREZ;880101 wrote:already cancelled Netflix. Waste of money.
I've got Comcast and it destroys Netflix, Blockbluste, Hulu and everything else. Got a ridiculous price and it has hundreds, if not thousands, if movies and tv shows available on-demand for free. I can watch the last 5 episodes of just about any tv series, and there are additional older episodes available, as well, I think online (even has an IPad app, but you can only watch over wifi).
IMO Netflix has a huge uphill battle here because the content owners are dug into to maintain their margins. I don't know if I'm a typical consumer, but I rarely go to the theater (nor do I rent from Blockbuster or Netflix any more), so I'm one who has no issue paying the $5.99 a few times a month when a title I want to see is available on cable on-demand.

Netflix is going to be out of business within the next 5 years. Great idea, but poor execution.

I can't blame Netflix for dropping Starz. Starz was demanding way too much money.
Netflix was able to get their early deals very cheap, because studios felt the streaming gig could compliment the dvd distribution. I don't think Movie studios felt it would turn out to be this big, and of course, the studios feel they need to hike the prices up on everything.
