Does anyone else find ESPN even more annoying than usual with the whole Tiger thing?
Save me the, "well don't watch it". I love ESPN because I can tune out the rest of what is actually important for awhile and just think about sports--but I still think they're HORRIBLE, no other option though.
But tonight I tune into SC and they spent a good 3 or 4 minutes going over the Tiger's mother-in-law thing. They played the 911 call. They had an on-site reporter talking about how there were no new details and they couldn't find anything out because they hired more security. They said neither Tiger nor his agent has made a comment about his mother-in-law yet.
Ok, first of all, this is ESPN news? What does this have to do with anything and exactly what details are they looking for? Do they think he beat her or something? lol
This has nothing to do with anything--I don't mind them covering the part of the story that has to do with Tiger. I'm as sick of hearing about it as anyone--what he did was wrong and pretty stupid but I like him because he makes golf interesting enough to watch. I don't care and I'm not surprised that he's not a good guy--however, they have a right to cover the story the way they are and I understand that. But seriously, are they really lowering their standards to TMZ levels? The story about his mother-in-law is not even news worthy and certainly not ESPN news worthy and CERTAINLY not THIS big of a deal. I'd rather hear you mention it, MAYBE, and play 3-4 minutes of extra highlights.
Just one example, but does anyone else agree that ESPN, just in the last few years, has become somewhat of a joke? Yet they can get away with it because they have a monopoly as far as televising sports coverage--where else are people going to tune in? But honestly, it's a shadow of it's former self.
