It isn't like ESPN frowns on that (Craig James). Just sayin'.
Especially not in the second half when his team is down by three scores.
I've only seen replays and didn't really stop to think about it, but did this happen when Notre Dame was down 23-3? If so, could the little tirade have fired them up just a bit considering they would've then outscored SF 17-0 the rest of the way?
Btw, since there are a couple Mike and Mike listeners on here, didn't they read a public letter from an individual with high regard in the Catholic community about Kelly's actions?
Yes, something about "I should be able to watch a Notre Dame game with my family." It was about the "cursing". Lame...stupid catholics.
Pelini was putting his finger in Martinez's chest while screaming in his face. Now, I don't have a problem with that but it's just as fiery as Kelly's behavior if not moreso.
Pelini did face some backlash for that also, didn't he? I just find the whining and "he should be fired" nonsense to be incredibly pussified in either/both cases. It isn't my favorite manner of communication and he runs the risk of losing his team's respect if he can't relate/motivate them properly, but those are his consequences to deal with. As someone already mentioned, winning solves everything. If he continues to lose, this will just be additional ammo. Win and it all goes away.
