We know with SMCC on the verge of closing and the NOL losing several teams, do you think there will be a shuffle of schools between the three? I know they are all different size conferences but what schools do you think would find a fitting home in each conference? And should any schools outside of these conferences transfer in ( or vice versa)?

The NOL lost some, but they are gaining the Sandusky Blue Streaks, which will help improve the quality of that league, no doubt

Maybe WR could move into the PAC, NSP into the SBC, S.E. could move into the FC along with B.C. which would balance out the FC a little more and realign it along 224. The only far satellite school is MON. but they have Rt.4 and 99 to take to Attica and New Washington and all of their other drives are the same. I didn't look into WR's drives too much or the PAC but I see it as goes: Wellington is a team they scrimmage and they are all but what 15 minutes west of Wellington so its not tagging too much time on? NSP would be close to Huron, Edison, SMCC (if they survive), Perkins, if Clyde stays it isn't too far of a drive either, and Margaretta isnt too bad itself. and the competition would be good in Football and Volleyball but the Flyers may be in for a beating in other sports. Plus you have the drive to OH and PC(then again Edison makes those drives), and the fact that NSP doesn't have soccer or tennis. I dont know the SBC's condition as far as swimming goes but there are probably more schools with it in the SBC than there are in the FC... Anyways just a little mind food for you!

*** I have looked into this as far as WR goes and they would be one of the smaller schools in the conference, a few of the schools though are missing the same sports WR is. (Tennis soccer golf.. etc.) If WR were to play well in this conference 8-2, 7-3 its possible they could make the playoffs where as if they did that in the FC it is very unlikely. You can gauge some of the competition by how MON+SP play Keystone, and how WR scrimmages Wellington. It actually brings WR's competition closer for the most part geographically, with Oberlin Keystone and Wellington all right there. Rocky River is a good drive though, as well as the drive to Brooklyn (Not NY. for the Smart _sses). There are several major highways to reduce driving time though. I also looked at the west shore conference and the size of the schools seem to dwarf WR, not to mention they don't have many of the sports the bigger schools do.

As far a schools go its kind of hard to change around NE Huron County and SW Lorain County.

Im thinking Clyde is going to move to the NOL also..

I don't. The Fliers will stay in the SBC.

And to be honest, I think the NOL dropped the ball not showing any interest in Fremont Ross. It's too late now as the Little Giants will be joining the TCL in a couple years.

I'd think Lucas would join the FC if they become short a team.

Clyde and Perkins make sense to the NOL, but reports are neither are interested.

Fremont Ross is a lot bigger than most of the NOL schools isn't it? I mean geographically it fits in nice.

One can say Sandusky is a bit bigger than the rest. Besides, for many years, Tiffin was by far the biggest school in the NOL, and in fact, was Division I from 1980-85. So, what's the problem now? Finally, ADs say they want to cut back on Diesel/Travel, and receive great gates. Ross takes care of those needs in the NOL.

I would not be surprised if SMCC had to close all together, you hate to see it or mention it. But it seems almost inevitable, I think if you take the sports out of high school you are taking that much out of a childs experience in high school. With Perkins being open enrollment kids who want to play sports will likely go there, that is if SMCC does get rid of sports alone. And I do think NSP will see a small influx of students too. I think Clyde and Perkins would both fit well in the NOL, they would benefit as far as competition, and Lucas would not be a bad addition to the Fireland conference either.

There's no if....both will be gone. Other 3(Napoleon will be gone as well) will schedule each other, and have more non-conference games.

What is the TCL format for football, how many non-league games? I know the Sandusky rivalry is already set for week 1, would they entertain playing Findlay in week 2?

IMHO, the TCL is a better fit for Ross than the NOL.

What is the full story with SMCC, I went there until 6th grade, it was the same class size as St. Paul which I graduated from, hard to imagine they would be closing. Is it just fiction or does the claim have backing to it?

IMHO, the TCL is a better fit for Ross than the NOL.

Ross and Findlay will continue their rivalry in week two. I am not completely sure if the City League will move to a two division setup or not. I have heard talk of that or one league with teams playing 8 league games. No matter how it is set up I can tell you that the Fremont Ross community is thrilled to have been selected to be a member of the City League. I agree with Jake that the NOL dropped the ball in not accepting Ross. That no longer matters as we will be in the City League beginning in 2011 and will be loyal to what is a historic athletic league.

I don't see SMCC closing anytime soon, and I certainly don't see them eliminating sports. They have a couple of real good alumni at that school that can help them thru the rough years.

Nothing in stone, I should have made it hypothetical. Sorry, error on my part. I was just saying , because the tuition keeps rising (everywhere not just SMCC) and the fact that Perkins is open enrollment, with the way the economy is it would seem that the odds are against SMCC. When they very well could survive, and lets hope that is the case! Once again I apologize for misleading you.

Sonofanump, I'm impartial either way. I would have loved the NOL, but happy with TCL as well. I just wanted to point out the NOL goofed, IMHO. At any rate, looking forward to the gridiron battles with Whitmer(well, that's already in place, LOL), SJJ, Central, and St. Francis along with old GLL foe Clay.

SP is a good fit in the SBc for football -now-, but if you have a down year, it would be very tough playing a steady diet of Oak Harbor, Margaretta, Huron. I know, we just saw that size doesn't necessarily matter, but it does if you don't have something else to compensate. SP typically is not deep enough to withstand a physical schedule like the SBC. I'd like to see some of the Catholic schools get together and form a league. NSP, SMCC, FSJ, TC, FSW etc...

I agree about Lucas in the Firelands. If they have an opening, The Cubs would jump all over that. Its a perfect fit in just about every way.
