The garage door opener in my wife's house is an older Sears Craftman model with a grey remote with blue buttons. I have an older grey Sears remote with blue bottoms that should work with it but I'm not sure how to reprogram my remote. Know how to do this?

Take the back off the remote and you will see a series of parallel switches, look for the same set of parallel switches up by the head unit on your garage. Set both sets of swithes to match.

These are newer models than the type with the switches. There are no switches with these.

I know to add another remote to my garage door opener all I had to do was open the cover on the opener itself, press the reset button and hold down the button on the opener until it picked up the signal.

So does your wife actually have her own house, or you just call it that because she thinks everything is hers anyway? lol

I have a few of these things, and I think the press and hold method works, and when you lift up the cover where the reset is on the opening in the garage itself, it should give you the instructions there somewhere. One other thing about these remotes- I have had ones where the batteries last for many years, and others where they don't last too long. Before you pitch batteries in a unit, make sure they are contacting the landing spots in the unit. Good luck with the house and remote.

The back of the opener head hanging in the garage has a program button on the back of it. Push that button and a small LED light should come on. Push the remote button once, then again, and then push it a 3rd time and time the opener should run. Very simple process.
