At this point, I think it's the right call. No need to do something to injure himself for next season. Take the time off. Heal your body and be 100% next season.

Well, I will cheer my heart out for them like I always have but I'm setting my sights on next season. There is no way that they'll make any kind of run in the playoffs (if they were to make it) without Troy. Brady, Manning, Rivers, etc. would shred that secondary. Basically, any hopes I may have had of them winning out, getting help, making the postseason and a run with Polamalu back are down the drain.
I just hope he fully recovers from this season's injuries.
