what did the tribe give up? oh yeah, a player who has set foot in a MLB stadium and other who has tossed a few games and is completely unproven.

Someone said Choo had a rough game defensively...he did hose a guy at 3rd on one hop from the warning track and the guy was called safe and provided the 7th run.

Carmona needs to be good tonight. I'm not holding my breath.

did choo throw the guy out? i was at the game and from the first base side he looked out, but no one really argued the call though.

For an inconsistent career sub-.500 pitcher.

You apparently did not really examine the trade all that much if you have to ask that question.

Yeah he was out. The play that got Sipp ejected after being taken out, also an out. Hafner's check swing wasn't close...Adsrubel backwards K was 6 inches off the plate. And I only watched the 7th-11th inning.

You also had a triple off of Pestano after strike 3 went right down the middle. Strike 4 was then hit for a triple.

^^^yeah...I'd like to here him explain that call....thigh high and right down the middle. I don't think I've ever seen a major league game that was so poorly umpired.

So we do a 4-1 type trade with other teams highly touted prospects and we got raped...

Then we do a 4-1 trade for Ubaldo, and we still get raped..

People who love prospects that much are hilarious. They bitch when a team isn't winning now, but they also bitch when the team commits to winning within a 3 year window.

Prospects or not, the Tribe isn't a team that will consistently make the playoffs anymore. We had some great pitching over the last few years and haven't done shit. If we didn't do shit with guys like CC, Lee, Fausto (when he was fabulous) then we weren't going to do shit with Alex White and Drew Pomeranz.

Alex White made 3 quality starts in the beginning of the year... Much different then pitching at this point, which is something HE HASN'T DONE.

Ubaldo was failed by his defense last night. It's not the first time either. Every pitcher has rough starts, but the great ones can battle through it 95% of the time. He did that last night.

I was just showing 4-1 is the going rate for an ace. I trust the front office. Pomeranz could easily be laporta

Hoops....I will give you the 1st run. It was bullshit defense. But later in the game he was unable to get his offense back in the dugout after they scored in the top half of the inning. And that's something good pitchers do. He really didn't have a clue where his pitches were going, and continually got behind in the count. And than he threw hit me fastballs that got smoked. I've said it before, this trade will take years to gauge. We will have to see how well Pomeranz and White do and how Jimenez pitches for us. I hope it turns out great for us, I really do. But right now it doesn't look good.

The biggest gripe people have is that we gave up more for Ubaldo than the Phils did for Lee (both had remaining year(s) on contract, for cheap). Throw in the fact that Lee is 2x the pitcher Ubaldo is and it is a little disheartening.

I actually think (well thought at the time) we raped Milwaukee in that deal. They got CC for half a season and we got the big stud, righty power bat and a lead-off man for the future with decent speed. It hasnt turned out that way at all, and thats why trades are always risky on both parties, but the CC trade It thought we definitely won. The Lee trade I was pissed and knew we got fucked. The Ubaldo trade I think we gave up way to much for him, but it could be like CC in revers where the prospects just dont pan out and its a win for us. At the very least, we have very good pitching to build around for 2 years to make a run.

I wish MLB would step up and make a statement for last night's horrible display of officiating. I would really like them to replace this crew for the rest of the series. MLB teams and fans do not deserve to see that kind of officiating at the professional level.

Now saying that the Indians have only themselves to blame for losing, they had plenty of opportunities.

Let's hope we can get game two...its going to be tough though.

Tonights Line-up:
Brantley LF Choo RF Cabrera SS Hafner DH Santana 1B Fukudome CF Donald 2B Hannahan 3B Marson C

Still no Kipnis and I'm assuming Chisenhall is sitting because of the lefty on the mound.

Hannahan is a lefty too...why would that matter?

Hannahan actually hits lefties (.299/.379/.468) better then righties (.180/.273/.279) and has had some success (albeit in a small sample size) against Buehrle. Chisenhall has 2 hits off lefties all season.

Ok after I posted I was wondering if that was the reason....makes sense lol

I don't think it matters who is in the lineup against Buehrle...it is probably going to be a long night lol

I can't stand Fukedome with a passion...I have no idea what the front office saw in him. The was he is playing we might as well of brought a prospect up.

If anything, with Fukdsfjgk in, he should be in the 2 hole and Choo in the 6.

I was watching the replay of the game today and after it was over Bruce Drennan's show came on.

He says the calls were "borderline discriminatory" against the Indians.

I am in no way an Indians fan, but there were 2 blatant balls that were called strikes that should be looked at by Joe Torre and MLB. The home plate umpire was horrible.

What a great story about Jack Hannahan and the Indians.

When jack found out his son was going to.be premature the team was playing in Boston. He wasn't going to make it back with the first flight back to Cleveland to see his son born or.be with his wife. The only way he could make it back was to get a charter flight which cost 35,000 bucks. He couldn't afford it, he only makes 500,000. Justin Masterson came to.him and told him to.book the flight and the everyone on the team pitched in to get jack back to see his son born.

What a great story, and one that shows how good these guys are, not just in baseball but in life.

Uh, Cliff was signed for another year. And CC was traded in June, a whole month before the deadline. If you think the Indians didn't have bargaining power you're crazy. They just evaluated talent horribly in both deals.

Bad defense? Hard to catch balls that are rolling to the wall all night long. Defend him if you want, but when he pitches like shit I would not try to spin it or sugar coat it. He stunk.

No talk today?

4 good innings for Carmona so far. We have 7 hits of Buerhle but just the one RBI hit from Hannahan thus far.

1-1 Bottom 5.
