Who here has them. What do you take/do to help them. What do you experience during your migraine.

I have been having them for about three years now. I usually have about 6 a year and they are painful. I get really sensitive to light and loud noises. My pain is usually behind my left eye but i have had them in the back of my head as well. I also usually feel them to start coming on. I have taken excedrin migraine as well as walgreens/cvs brand migraine meds and they help a little. I usually just find a cold dark silent room to be into or fall asleep. I have been told peppermint oil helps but havent tried it.

I get 1 or 2 bad ones a month. Light/noise kills. I also get very sick to my stomach. Over the counter meds do nothing for mine anymore. Occasionally I have to go to the ER and get a shot, sometimes 2 to stop them. Right now I take Zomig. Typically I have to take 3 or 4 of them before it really helps any. I've been on several other things for them. Usually a med will work for a few months, then just doesn't help anymore. I've learned I have to have a steady intake of caffeine daily, or they get me with a vengence.

My symptoms are painful in the front and temple area, pounding at throbbing, light and sound magnified, neck area is tight. I take a hot shower, and tray to fall asleep naked as quickly after the shower as possible. I take Excedrin Extra Strength (2 pills).

I started having migraine at the age of twelve, they progressed to about 6 per year. I took some medication but it was something that I had to have with me and the first sign of a migraine I had to take it, the problem was it was so strong that it knocked me out. Then around 16 years old we started to control the migraine with diet. No chocolate and less sweets that worked but still I would get migraines 3 or 4 per year. Around the age of 18 -23 they stopped and I would only get 1 per year… That was great.
I now get 2 migraines per year maybe and once or twice per year cluster headaches.

I do believe that diet and less alcohol helps..

There is a new operation for migraines but it extra and would not suggest it. It for extra case where you suffer from migraines monthly.

I think the worst part is being around some1 who hasn't had 1. They continue to turn on lights or turn up the tv or radio.

I get them every week probably.

I take an herb, feverfew, that is supposed to reduce the migraines by 40% (or something like that). Feverfew is supposed to help. I mowed yards for people in high school, one elderly lady had an herb garden -- she'd pluck a leaf off a feverfew plant when she had a headache and chew on it.

Aside from that, I use a lotion called tei fu, it's basically an all-natural Icy Hot or Bio-Freeze. It helps temporarily. I also have a couple ice packs I can use as well as a hot pack that is microwaveable. A nice hot shower usually helps too. The last thing I've been hearing/reading about is some aromatherapy, lavender is supposed to be good for headaches.

I hate headaches. I have had them since I was a little kid. I try to refrain from caffeine because that does trigger them (usually takes 2 days for them to occur though).

Weak. I'm not a smoker anymore, but that shit will solve any medical issue.

lsd, psilocybin, and mescaline have all been shown to stop cluster headaches. marijuana (thc and the cannabinoids) has also had success in treating migraine headaches. class dismissed.

If I take meds as soon as I feel it coming, usually just a few hours. If I don't/cant take something immediately they're horrible to try to get rid of. Sometimes will last 2-3 days.

I've gotten them since I was a kid, but I had spinal meningitis 12 years ago, and since then, I probably get them 4x more often and far more severe.

Totally agree w/ worst being around ppl who have never had one. My son gets them, and his douche nozzle father doesn't understand how bad they are. One day my son was at his house and his dad forced him to go to school, he wasn't there a half hour and they called me to come pick him up b/c with all the noise/fluorescent lights he started throwing up in the hallway. Poor kid.

I'd totally try the weed thing if I didn't have randoms for work lol

I suffered a concussion about 6 months ago and I've been dealing with Post Concussion Syndrome since then. I've been dealing with about 5 symptoms but the worst one is the headaches or so I thought. I had to go to the hospital early Sunday morning b/c I blacked out and fell I guess. When I got to the hospital I had a CT scan and what not done. After the test came back they told me that my headaches that are caused from PCS have turned into Migraines. Holy hell do they suck.

I have them every single day. I take 200mg Tramadol for them but they really don't help much.

My migraines get worse around loud noises and bright lights/sunlight.

When I get a migraine I do what I have to do to get comfortable in bed. Then I sleep for 16 hours or longer.

Here the good news. After the migraine has past I’m great. I have lots of energy, my mind is running with ideas, its go go go and I’m physically and mentally at my best. This new energy last about week ... and I require little sleep for that week.

It's a predictable pattern for me.

I log onto the OC and laugh at all of the serious business

I then flip over to the political forum.. My head starts pounding immediately.

I log off and feel good as new in a couple of minutes.

I have been getting them all my life and even had one yesterday. I take medication for the nausea and the pain (imitrex shots).

My wife has had success treating her migraines with essential oils. I'm surprised you're not already using them.

That's because you have any known ailment under the sun.

The tei fu lotion that I use has peppermint extract in it.

They make a tei fu oil too, I used to use it but like the lotion better. Basically, a mint oil is going to do a lot of the same things that Ben Gay, Icy Hot, and Bio-Freeze will do.

Huh...see if I DON'T have caffeine by about 3 or 4pm, I will get an awful headache that can't be solved until I go to bed for the night. Speaking of which, I haven't had any mountain dew yet today. Better get on that.

doTerra is the best stuff out there. Tho you need to research more. Peppermint is not the only oil used for migraines.
