Even from there it would be a wall scraper.

Someone suggested this on another forum and I love the idea so I thought I'd bring the idea here.

With Coco most likely not returning next year and no certain closer of the future in the bullpen now (supposing Chapman goes to the rotation), what do you think about Bailey turning into our closer next year? IMO it's the best option we have and would work out very well.

Cueto
Chapman
Leake
Wood/Volquez/Willis
Arroyo

I'd take that rotation going forward and the back end of our bullpen would be nice also.

They'll baby Chapman with pitch counts and will need Wood or LeCure on the days he starts to be ready.

Cueto
Leake
Chapman
Dontrelle
Arroyo, Volquez or maybe Wood

Give Bailey a shot and let Jeff Brantley tudor him on it.

I like alternating starters with different stuff....seems to take an at bat to adjust. Never liked Cueto, Bailey Volquez back to back.

I wish Masset was more consistant.
The dude has nasty stuff.

He could be the closer if he could be more consistant.

I am not ready to can Bailey to the BP. Next year is his make or break season. I think he has shown some maturity and I would like to see what he can do with a full ST and starting the season on time without stints on the DL. The kid is still young and has some very good stuff.

Leake has propelled himself solidly into the 2 spot. Last night he didnt have his great stuff but got the job done. The diff between a great pitcher and a meaty-okre one is what he does the days he is off and how he limits big innings. If that was bailey, or arroyo, they get beaten like newarkcatholicfans mail-order bride, but Leake was able to get out of the jams.

Some say 4 inning ending twin killings is luck. Well..luck is the residue of design. May have been a bit fortunate but he put himself in that situation by geting ground balls in those situations instead of a fly ball, or a gapper.

Sappelt doesn't have a very high ceiling IMO.... But he has excellent instincts in LF...I want to see him in CF a few times.

Sappelt was raking in ST and I think he was doing well down on the farm too before he was injured.

Gotta see what they have in him and how knows, they may find a firecracker. I agree though< I would be very surprised if Sappelt is a mainstay. I would like for him to succeed though, but we will see

Sappelt has hit into some tough luck. He's hit alot of balls hard for outs. He's very good defensively. I think he can be the leadoff hitter this team needs.

OK...why are the umpires in such a hurry on these afternoon games? How many horrific calls are these guys going to make?

The play to end the game last night was not close with a good angle....today with bases juiced the same bleeping ump called Frazier out at 2nd and it didn't even come close to passing the eye test....I saw that play full speed and came completely out of the recliner...saying...no way...no way....then replay it and it's unbelievable.....where the hell was Dusty? My daughter asked me if it was the same guy at 3rd last night and after answering yes...and then she said makeup call.....maybe...but again it was an awful call....how does he not get reprimanded? Then the homeplate ump rung up a Rockies player on a 3-2 pitch that missed the zone laughably low and inside....strike 3....new inning.

If they suck that bad unintentionally....get rid of them...if they are trying to speed up things for their own benefit....get em outta here! I wanna watch a baseball game that ends on an actualy out and I want to watch the game take it's own pace and see how things work out.....I don't give a shit about their plans.

Cueto drilling CarGo in the butt seemed intentional....now he's up with bases loaded.....hope it wasn't intentional and hope karma doesn't kick in.

Those things motivate guys.

95 on the corner....nice!

If Cueto had the upper level focus mixed with this guy's zone.....no hit potential. He pitched CarGo PERFECTLY

Umps like to have a few drinks after ballgames. The home plate ump typically refrains the night before he has the plate but the rest dont mind indulging a bit, so tis possible that on day games they are a little sluggish.

They aren't sluggish.....they are just bad.

Cueto is overwhelming the Rockies hitters......but it's still just 2-0....Reds need to add on....Tulo and Helton on the bench.....Cueto will see them in the 9th
