As I know everyone on here enjoys talking as much high school football as possible, I ask that everyone try to invite everyone they know to come check out Ohio Chatter. The more people, the more conversation! I would love to see this site get as big as "that other site" during HS football season.

If you have any fun ideas on how to promote the site, please post them. I know I still have a bunch of business cards to hand out!

Even if everyone on here just posts something about the site on their Facebook page, I bet that will help!

I've got some things in the works for this season, too. They fell through last season but they will be ready this year.

The main items being a statewide scoreboard and a schedule for every team.

I'll post more about it soon.

justin,
Have you contacted ScoreFeeder to get your site on the list of Media contacts? JJHuddle is on the list from which coaches can select, and they've been receiving basketball and baseball box scores for the last 2 seasons.

If we can get Cincinnati posters off Yappi and the Steubenville posters off JJ, and get them over here, the OC will be Really Serious Business!

Those posters need to stay where they are because they're all ungodly annoying. We need to pick up new ones from around the state.

I haven't but I can look into it. It doesn't look like that site would update as quickly as getting scores from members on here, though.

As soon as a coach reports a game and sends the box score into the paper, if they also checked OhioChatter from the list of media outlets, OhioChatter would receive an email with the game report at the same time all the newspapers would receive the report. As a football statistician myself, I know I report the game within a half hour of the end of the game. Sure, someone can post the score of the game, but ScoreFeeder would provide the full box score. Just an FYI.

True. Most of the ones on Yappi are Elder fans...aka the Steubenville type fans of Cincy. ;)

It has 10 posts in the past 2 months for FB because no one outside of Jefferson and Belmont County gives a crap about the OVAC.

I'm not sure why Big Red fans would want to go read their OVAC threads either, since you guys can't win it because you would actually have to play OVAC teams, and god forbid, an away game.

It sends the data in an email? That seems pointless as it would then require me to go through and update the scores as I get them in. Why in the world wouldn't it send the data in a format that could be parsed by a website? If it sent the data using JSON or something it would make sense for me.

If they did an RSS feed or something, that would be useful. For right now, though, it is used by newspapers which receive the email in the format they prefer (each email tailored to the recipient), so they can copy/paste box score into their paper, etc. I was just offering this up as a way you could receive scores and full box scores. If you don't want to use it, that's fine. LoL

I appreciate the suggestion as I had never heard of it. It seemed like it would be a cool service until I read that it only sent data through email. I wasn't trying to knock you for passing it along, but stating why it won't work as is for me.

Just a few things I have been doing:

-Sending event invites on Facebook for people to join, as well as posting my status asking people to join
-Posting invites on Twitter
-Sending emails to all of my friends and family letting them know about the site and to pass on the word.

Any other ideas?

Was going to pass out my cards at the Massillon game last night, then thought better of it...;)

I would love to have an Ohio Chatter shirt to wear to all of the football games though. I would be willing to be a walking billboard for the OC if I got a "Free Shirt" haha. If I had a job right now I would make one, but way to broke for that right now...:)
